DR Horton Inc. has purchased property in Zachary near Flonacher Road and Old Scenic Highway from Zachary Trails LLC in a $10.5 million deal that closed Monday.
DR Horton previously acquired 313 acres from Zachary Trails in the same area for $9 million in 2019.
DR Horton has three subdivisions in development in Zachary, and a proposal for a 350-acre, 986-lot neighborhood called Trivento Subdivision is on the Planning Commission’s agenda for its July 19 meeting.

As long as they stay out of St Francisville.

I don’t know how this guy still manages to practice medicine with all the real estate he’s developing.

DLSD, Horton, and others are going into West Baton Rouge more aggressively than the St. Francisville area.

Didn’t someone call this the other day?

Zachary should just change its name to
Hortonville.
Hortonville.

Louisiana loves them some cheaply built crap houses.

And since DR Horton is doing it, Lennar and DLSD are not far behind.

Just in case anyone was wondering, widening roads worsens traffic.

Horton is more of a 5 year old Explorer and brand new Camry neighborhood.
Within 10 years, every driveway will be filled with 6 shitty cars.

It's more nuanced than that.

People need to stop buying these shitty houses

Correct. Mixed use neighborhoods that are walking and bike friendly is the answer.
Houston has some of the widest freeways in the world and traffic is still a bitch.
Sprawl is the problem; widening roads does not fix the problem.

You're right, it's much more nuanced than that.
But the conclusion is still the same. All things held constant, widening roads increases traffic, particularly when done to abate congestion brought on by suburban developments.

Yay more shitty neighborhoods with houses all crammed one on top of the other
You couldn't pay me to live in one of those

Not to mention, in Louisiana it takes 20 years to widen a road and by that time it is not wide enough due to population growth.
