Just spell out, frick, like a normal adult person.
It's clear that you don't like to be expected to be decent, or to do one very basic math equation at the end of your service, but, I really doubt that you will end up liking the alternative more. Service anywhere in Europe is sub standard of even modern American service, and the product costs considerably more. You take away the incentive to provide better service, and you just get the expected gratuity passed onto your bill anyway, taking the option out of your hands.
Just be decent. You aren't any better than your server. Do the math, it shouldn't be hard if you didn't eat your meal through a straw.

It's crazy that you have to tip beforehand for food delivery.
The delivery people should not know what tip is before they drop it off.

It's really not crazy when you recognize it for what it is. You are submitting a price for acceptance of a job. The price you input dictates how quickly the job will be accepted and completed. Putting in no-to-low tips increases the likelihood that a driver that is offered the delivery will reject it.

I miss the days when the delivery driver was a teenager employed by the restaurant, working for beer and college money. Now, everybody is entitled, that includes the fat arse on the couch ordering fat arse food and the filth delivering your food, eating your fries and spitting in your drink because frick America. Where’s my tip, you piece of shite?

I Prefer to go myself, because the distances are usually close, and the fees are so damn high, and I've had so many shitty experiences. I door dash...once twice a month when work is absolutely slammed...
So a $20-30 charge on a $10-20 amount of food, I'll tip some to start, 2-3 bucks. Then if they actually bring it in a timely fashion and not all messed up, I may throw another 2-3 on it.
When I tipped the whole Amount up front it was always slow and messed up.

I tip +/- $3 every time in Houston depending on size/location and never even thought about someone rejecting it? It always goes through in half a second. Perhaps that's just big cities.

No. You are tipping to get your food quickly.
The amount a driver gets pops up on the screen and is either accepted or rejected. If the number is low, especially if you are like 5 miles away, it will keep getting rejected. It’s why I don’t over think it and just give an extra $2-3 just to ensure it won’t take forever. Plus it obviously means more to them than me so what’s a couple more bucks?
To the OP the driver is an idiot and doesn’t have to take the delivery.

In the rare instances we order take out, I will drive to pick up my own shite.
Door dash orders are nearly double the cost of your food. Also don't really care for other people handling my food. Who knows what they do to it driving around
ETA: There was a period of time, I am not proud of, when I'd get crumbl door dashed to the house once a week. It would be $30-$32 depending on tip. Driving to the store and ordering the same thing is $16

I would tip half the tip on the card when I ordered $5 (they can see the charge) and give them that same amount in cash at the door.
The card tip was to get them here (a little ways out) and the cash tip was because they have a shitty job, gas cost sucks, and I am in a place now to remember the struggle and help out some young people trying.
The first guy was there a while and figured out the deal quickly and always thanked me.
The second guy just saw the card tip, assumed that was it and didn't even meet me at the door. He just put the pizza on the ground, rang the bell and left.
Meanwhile I had cash in hand to give to this fool.
Tried a second time and same thing...stopped ordering pizza from there.

If a driver had no idea what he would make, why would he risk it? He could do a delivery that is a 40 mile round trip and takes him an hour to complete and return and then only get 4 dollars. Who would risk that?

I do some debt collection legal work and I often review the debtors' CC statements. When I first started doing it I was shocked how many CC statements showed Uber Eats and Door Dash charges multiple times a week. These days, I'm shocked when I don't see those types of charges on statements. Deadbeats are lazy.

I don’t think those tips even go to the workers. I took a job briefly as a host at a restaurant and was paid $4.50 plus “tips” which never added up to minimum wage anyway, so the restaurant just covered the difference.
