Google, man it's something. Wish we had it

Where are you located?
Louisiana has an ACT OF DONATION form. If here, go to OMV website.
Person receiving car cannot get a plate without insurance. Bring cash to register car and turn in your own license plate.
Bring title.

Even tho you didn’t tell us where on the planet this is happening, for some reason, you just have to remember the jingle

Go talk to the notary public in Hi Nabor. They can handle it for you.

I dont know where you are at but we have a company in Zachary called Apple Notary (no connection to Apple iphones). They do all kinds of DMV outsourcing. I did an Act of Donation to my kids to give them the cars they were driving. Takes about 30 min but you will have to arrange for the recipient to get insurance before they will issue a new plate and submit the registration. I am sure there are many other similar places that can do this without having to go to the DMV.

Take your title and your friend to the DMV.

kars for kids, just the keys and you have to sign over the title. They will pick it up. very easy

Go to a notary public and tell them what you want to do. They probably have the correct forms to fill out on hand - mine did. The new owners will then need to go to the DMV with paperwork and register the vehicle under their name. Have the new owners inform you when their registration is complete. Then you can cancel your insurance.
PSA - If you are donating, gifting, or selling a truck the new owners can keep the same license plate. But you can not keep the license plate if its a car. I don't know about an SUV.
This is for Louisiana

Leave it on Lobdell with the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked.

I’ve done this before and just sold it for a dollar. I had a bill of sale printed off the internet.

My wife inherited her mothers car. Buick LeSabre that had a six cylinder motor that was a pain in the arse to work on. 130,000 miles. It was free, but the time I spent working on this piece of shite, it was a wash. Battery under the back seat, spark plugs on the back side only accessible after a 12 hour cool-down, extra tools needed to replace brake pads, some kinda stupid coolant line that for some dumb arse reason went through the alternator frame, transmission "clunk" when you put it in gear. I could go on, but you get the picture.
I still to this day, have not stepped on a GM sales lot.
Friend of mine worked at the local Tech school. I gave it to them for a tax write-off. Blue book value was $2,100. No rust, upholstery in great condition.
My 2UZ-FE stills runs like a top.

It will help more if you leave it running...
