Mine is trained to lay on the back seat, sleep and fart. Other than sudden aroma that seeps in from the back there is no problem.

Mine is trained to ride in the bed and not jump out.

It blows my mind that the fairies and soccer moms can't see that it's the same thing. You trust yours to not climb on your face and put you in the ditch or oncoming traffic, I trust mine to not bail out.

Here's Opie. Opie is a veteran of hundreds of back of the truck rides. He's logged thousands of thousands of miles in his 6 years of life. Opie likes eating, licking his balls, retrieving upland game birds and waterfowl, peeing on stuff and so on and so forth. But what Opie really likes is to ride in the back of the truck. He whines like some bitch arse shitzu when I go to work every morning cause he knows he can't go riding with me. Ope doesn't have a mean bone in his body but I bet he would bite the nuts off a sumbitch who tries to keep him from doing his favorite thing in the world. Riding in a truck. Can he potentially be injured by riding in a he back of the truck? Sure. He could also be consumed by an alligator on his next hunt or have his throat ripped out by a pack of coyotes on any given night. He could be taken down by the curs at the end of the road in a lust fueled battle over the black poon. Opie doesn't give a frick though. He lives for the day. As do most dogs. Sure I could confine him to a kennel or put some gay seat belt on him. But I choose not to steal the wind from his golden locks and enslave him. He was born free and he'll die free. And when he dies, I'll get another. Shake the haters Opie.

My dog loves it. I just roll down the window just enough so she can stick her head out... that way I have no worries about her jumping out and chasing a squirrel.
