Lots of folks in the Middle East see dogs like big rats or other filthy street animal. They think it is ridiculous and nasty that we have dogs in our houses as companions.

Tbh, dogs are pretty disgusting and not very intelligent. They're generally cowards, useless, and don't warrant any respect.

My cousins wife is Vietnamese, a few years back they went over there to visit some family. And yes he ate dog three different ways. He even showed me a picture kinda creepy seeing dogs like that. But it's cultural, he said they raise dogs over there pretty much as we raise cows or pigs.

Dogs were vital to surviving ice ages in Europe thousands of years ago. They weren't needed in the desert. And consider this opinion is coming from people who use their left middle finger to wipe their arse.

You act like the only animal capable of forming bonds and such are dogs, but cows are capable of the same thing. The couple of times I've visited farms, the people running them always had a favorite cow and it would follow them around when they were in the pasture.

Asian cultures in general are absolutely savage when it comes to the consumption and butchery of animals for food. Fair game for anything the woofs, meows, or moos.

Dogs are the way they are because we are narcissistic in nature and bred dogs to be like us. There is nothing inherently wrong with disregarding that aspect of the animal.

Why are people so arbitrary with the value they assign to lifeforms.
There are folks who'll flip out over someone putting down their dog themselves then sit down to a meal of steak and bacon and not bat an eye.
People will freak out over some Chinese eating frogs and dogs while happily slurping down fermented udder juice because Jamie Lee Curtis says it helps her poop.
Segments of society will declare war on someone for disposing of a litter of feral cats in the SS Burlap Sack, yet scroll lackadaisically through an article about human beings being dismembered in some Central American city.
What gives a life value? What makes us say, "you are cute and furry for a little while so I'll keep you in my bed until you devour my children"
Versus
"You have scales and less legs than I'm comfortable with so I'll brain you with this garden gnome despite the fact that you'll eat rodents and pose no danger to me."
We'll cheer when dusky, swarthy, sandy folk get blown to smithereens but feign outrage when some imbecile handles a cow a bit roughly before they slit its throat.
Is cultural conditioning the only reason a heaping helping of Kung-Pow Kitty sets some people to squeamish? Is it an all or none game where either everything is meat or everything is murder? Seems that it's a level of comfort that affords one the ability to arbitrarily deem some flesh forbidden. I've never read of people being picky during a siege.
