Yes, all new hires and random for employees. A large portion of our employees work around heavy machinery though.
Last promotion I got, my new manager filled out the paperwork as if I was a new hire or is just crazy. Dont known if it's because I'm at a higher level or what, but I got the works. 2 hair tests, 2 urine tests, full physical, etc.. I was there for like 4 hours. The office that did the testing asked if I worked for the CIA, haha.

I someone came to work three sheets to the wind it would suddenly be random drug test time.
That's testing for probable suspicion of impairment

It's not totally uncommon. I had to go through the compete screening like a new employee once after a big promotion. Companies want to know they're not making a bad investment.

Still have random drugs test for my job

We still test new hires, truly random checks never happen (because it costs so much) but instead checks are made when it's believed someone is coming in stoned and/or drunk.

It's been over 20 years since i joined a company that didn't drug test.

All new hires must pass drug test. Also, if you are hurt or get injured on the job, you get drug tested as well.

Yes. Pre employment drug test and supposed to have randoms but they’ve slacked off on that in the past year. You get hurt or frick something up on the job, you’ll have no choice but to go and take a drug test.

I took a drug test when I was hired. Haven't taken one since in 11 years.

Yes, but we got guys driving around in company trucks, so we have to.

It depends on what kind of work your company does. If you drive company vehicles and equipment, or work in manufacturing or construction, there should be no question that drug testing would be included in risk management. If it's an IT or white collar type company with low risk of occupation injury, I could see not requiring drug testing. It's all driven by workman's comp insurance rates and what risk your company can handle. I don't think construction or manufacturing jobs will ever get rid of drug testing because there's too much risk and liability involved.

Yes, just urine though.
Somewhat of an office type job with travel but I work from home and use my own vehicle for the travel.
I thought it was weird that they didn't verify any of my education or past employment history though.

I wasn't drug tested.
Or even met in person before I was hired.

The finance company and bank I worked at, yes. But once employed, I never heard of anyone being drug tested again. Which was funny because half the people who worked there were either on drugs or raging alcoholics.
At my current job, no. Though we did have to take a drug test to work on a Federal job. But the government didn't want a copy of the drug test; just a letter from the company saying "So and so is eligible to work on so and so job site." Which is a good thing, because one of the owners pissed hot.

Huh, now that I think about it, I did not have to drug test for my current job (started about a year ago), with a large very recognizable company. Not in any way surprising considering their headquarters is in communistfornia.
Pretty sure I did for every job before this one though.

Every private company i've ever worked for drug tested.
I work for a state agency now and they didn't. I was kinda floored.
