truck has a spare but you have to be a mechanical engineer/acrobat/Rubik's Cube solver to access it.
First thing I do with a new truck is get a torch and cut that bracket out and toss the spare in the bed

You can get a bolt on spare tire mount. I actually have one but still keep installing in back the truck. I need to get some bolts for it to mount it back on my trailer.
Does it just bolt around the trailer frame? As long as it doesn't stick up too high something like that should be fine.

I buy Fix-a-Flat for all of my family members' cars. Unfortunately, it didn't work for my flat last week. I did have a donut, but where I fricked up was trying to get by with the included scissor jack.
102-degree heat index changing a flat with a scissorjack. Never again.

Buying one for the car…they’re a PITA, but it gives you the ability to get out of the situation on your own. Bought an OEM spare off of eBay, then the OEM hardware from a dealer. Hopefully it’s never used.

I had a flat this morning at 515AM on the way to work. Showed the Gen Z loser force at work, that it is indeed possible to still make it to work, on time, with a flat tire.

Cars don't need them, most people don't know how to change a flat.

Why would you not want a spare?
Because road maintenance in all fifty states has reached a point where repair crews can't find any pot holes to repair, and street sweepers are run 24/7 to remove roofing nails and sharp metal from the roads?

We were looking for a new SUV 5 years ago and most only had a jack and a can of Fix-a-Flat.

When we got our daughters (no pics) their first car, I showed them how to change the tire on it. Not that they could do it, but they would know how and where the Jack would go.

Fwiw lesson learned.
Some all wheel drive cars have to be switched to front wheel only if you run a different size tire (donut) at any point.
Now I know where the fuse is to pull.
Also..people love to steal my truck spare.

My new one has a full size and a jack.
I want to get a new truck with a full toolbox so that I can carry a small roll around floor jack. I hate those POS scissor jacks that come with most vehicles.

Take a pic of your wheel, write down your tire size, go to a You-pull-it junkyard and find one with a good tire on it. It should be around $50. Armorall the tire then put it in the spare tire compartment.
Buy a hydraulic car jack, a battery impact and a deep socket to fit your lugnuts

In Biden's America. You'll have nothing and like it.

Yes and it's in a compartment in the back so I wouldn't have to crawl under my JGC while on the side of the road if I need to use it.
I did not have one when I was in a BMW 3 series though. It had run flats. Turned out to not be worth a shite when one blew out and completely shredded when I was roughly 15 miles outside of Dallas coming back from an A&M game in College Station.

My mom’s Cadillac doesn’t have one. It has a can to fill it up. Pretty useless for any actual damage, so my dad bought a spare for it after blowing out a sidewall. They live in the country…

I got two words (kinda) or three letters for you, baw....Triple A, or AAA.
It is worth every penny, can be used for any vehicle you are in or is at your home (whether on your plan or not), and one unlock or tow pays for a year. If your family members travel much at all, it is a must-have.
