I put rice first usually

I’ve never heard of putting the rice on top of the beans but I’ll try anything once...almost anything.

I’ve seen it. Looked like a rice island in a sea of beans. Seemed to be way more beans to rice though (which is how I like it anyway).

I guess it's kind of like some restaurants putting a scoop of rice on top of the bowl of gumbo. It's really more for presentation but after you mix it up it's all the same.

Restaurants do that and also do it with gumbo.

Rice.
I always mix it together so I guess it doesn't matter. But it feels like beans mix with rice easier than rice mixes with beans.

Popeyes actually usually has the rice sitting on top of the red beans for whatever reason when you order it as a side. But you just mix it together anyway.

They do that with the large order. But the regular has the beans in top of the rice. Odd practice.

I'm trying to cut back on rice. I fill the bowl with beans and then put a small scoop of rice in the center.
