Holmes beach on Anna Maria Island. Some of the choices here look very cold. Id prefer a little salt and sand.

Population 8500

horseshite, New Orleans skyline is big for its population. Much bigger than Memphis, which used to have over 6-700k city residents, which is twice that of N.O.

I was shocked at the weakness of that skyline.

It's slightly more impressive than Baton Rouge's.

I'm biased but St. Paul's skyline isn't bad for a city of 300K

And right next door is the metropolitan side of the Twin Cities with Minneapolis

That looks to me like the Westbank of New Orleans Holiday Inn in Gretna.

It may be incorporated, but it's basically a neighborhood in D.C.

Cities are gauged more by their metro area population when they are considered large. Atlanta and Miami proper are similar to New Orleans in population but have huge area populations and are considered major cities. San Antonio proper has 3x the population of these cities, how does it skyline compare?

That is misleading because Memphis' city limits extend so far.

and people in this thread talking about someplace like St Paul being comparable to Regina.

St paul is part of a 3.6 million person metro.

Regina is 215,000 and its metro is...236,000.

No idea why this thread was resurrected but this caught my eye. Your picture is great. I vacationed there regularly for nearly 15 years. My uncle bought summer a home there when he retired. Holmes Beach is on Anna Maria, a Key island in the Gulf right across the bay from Tampa. Truly paradise on earth and one of the best kept secrets anywhere.

not much of a skyline but the water and beach on the Gulf side is as good as it gets in Southern Florida. As best I can tell from this angle, it appears looking at the key island from south to north, I think that's Bradenton Beach.. and Holmes Beack would be on opposite end in far upper left ... that would be south Tampa Bay to the far, upper right:
