Does anyone's SO really suck at buying gifts?

I love my wife, she's almost perfect in every way.

One thing bugs the crap out of me...she gives literally no thought to any gifts she buys me.

For things like Mother's Day, Birthday, etc. I am combing through women's magazines looking for the hot handbag style, searching out top lists for the trends of the summer, etc and try to get her stuff that she would never find around Baton Rouge.

I travel a lot for my job so I get to shop NY boutiques, etc.

When it comes time for gift giving she is always surprised and just dumbfounded that I found some Herni Bendel beach bag that was on some celebrities arm at their latest beach vacation.

When it comes to Father's Day, I literally have to spell out (brand, style, etc) what I want. She refuses to put in any effort into it and it bugs me.

I just noticed my Father's Day gift came in a package. It is literally the exact thing I showed her when she asked if there was "anything" I wanted. I figured I give her an idea of what I wanted.

Nope, totally literal. No work, just feels lazy.

Is this selfish to be constantly disappointed that she puts no thought into these holidays?

Mother's Day and Father's day are stupid holidays IMO. Add Valentines Day to the list as well.

I tell my wife to pass on the gifts for me, if I really want something I buy it for myself. She basically buys stuff with my money anyway.

Yea my SO's SO really sucks at buying gifts. He usually calls her friends at the last minute and begs for help.

Our house is just the opposite. Wife always gives amazing gifts. I want to reciprocate but she is IMPOSSIBLE to buy for. In many years of marriage, even when enlisting help from female relatives, our grown children and others, she never likes what I buy.

She's a DIY type who frankly loves power tools, and home depot stuff. I buy that, but it never feels like a gift you give your life mate.

I think it's shitty that my SO won't give me any ideas as to what she may want as a gift, and I'm on my own to figure out what to get her. That shite shouldn't be made into a fricking guessing game.

I don't like surprise gifts from her, because I'm usually pretty disappointed. I think I've finally gotten the point across that I hate surprises, and would rather tell her directly what I want...or buy it myself and tell her that she can wrap the gift if she feels the need to.

I just don't understand why it can't work the other way as well. Unless, she really doesn't know what she wants, and I'm tasked with finding something that she likes but didn't know she really wanted... fricking games...

Bro, my wife is no different. It doesn't mean that she's lazy or doesn't care enough. Some guys are just hard to shop for. Appreciate what you've got.
