I wonder how having a Democrat President and Justice Department affects this.

More like the police are fudging their paperwork and sometimes flat out lying about it.

And the entire country and most of the civilized world is in on the conspiracy, too.

By the left and right both. Unfortunately it almost always works.

We just hear about the crimes more now because of social media. Back in the day, you wouldn't find out until the paper was printed the next morning. And they were limited on space. So they couldn't put every crime across the country on it.

Now we find out things as they happen. And we even get live streams and shite. That's probably why it seems like it's rising.

Crime, racism, illegal immigration, equality. All of it has been trending in the opposite direction for years reguardless of what the media and smart folk O-T and Poliboards put here.

Idk. How much shite goes unreported, or how many times do things get reported and nothing done?

When I got my house robbed and reported it to brpd, they asked me what I wanted them to do about.

So I'm guessing that crime against me isn't in those statistics. And probably thousands of others.

I'd be interested in just seeing baton rouge statistics. I'm told how wonderful checkpoints are, so naturally crimes should be higher because of all the bad people the police are catching that they wouldn't have other wise.

I don't know what the nationwide stats are but I do know that the officers I worked with tell me that crime is up and that young kids want to argue about every stupid thing when they are caught doing something wrong right now

The world has gotten safer throughout history pretty consistently, not just America. Some hiccups here and there.

But people like being scared by the boogeyman and it sells advertisements on your local news.

Well why don't you go ride your bike thru NOLA east and tell me how safe it is. Take BULLARD to the Chef and report back tomorrow morning.

The blithering idiots obviously don't care about the obvious spike since 14.

There are plenty of articles and studies out there that prove what I said. Feel free to research on your own.

Does this have anything to do with Bruce Jenner or Richard Simmons living as women?

It's going up in the big cities since 14. It's a big deal in my city with the police unions blaming our black chief and the chief blaming the city manager for not hiring enough new officers. I blame open carry laws that were enacted a couple of years ago........

There's your problem.
Blame is easier than responsibility.

I heard a story on this on NPR not too long ago. Their take was that crime is not really decreasing but that police departments are now under reporting crime to make their numbers look better

Wait. Wouldn't that run the risk of a funding decrease? I guess I'm not understanding how less crime is good for police departments.

Not trying to get political, but all of those statistics only show the rates up through the end of '14.

Violent crime has rocketed up in the US in 2015 and 2016. My dear home city (Chicago) has seen a 70% increase in murders since 2014 after more than two decades of decreases, and we aren't too far out the norm.

So violent crime in the US has been rocketing back up the last 18 months or so. Not sure what the solution is, but it isn't the misinformation in your post.

Misinformation in my post? I asked a question. I didn't even pretend to provide information.
