A doctor was on the radio the other day.
He was talking about treating sleeping issues for decades and after prescribing one thing, his patients finally were cured from insomnia related issues:

Humor.

He told them to watch a funny movie, stand up comic, read a funny book, anything to make them laugh at night before bed.
He stated that after decades of research this seemed to do the trick.

Good luck!

I take one Advil PM every single night 1 hour before bed. If I’m stressed about something an my mind races, I take another one. Sleep like a baby no matter what’s on my mind.

I've suffered from insomnia for years. The only thing that has worked with any consistency is Ambien. But of course everyone will tell you it's the devil and soooooooo addictive....you know what else is addictive...sleep. I understand after 72 strait hours or more all you want to do is close your eyes and let the world fall away.

Please go see a doctor and have some sleep studies done. Try these suggestions that people have said and you have to give some time to work...like weeks..not days.

The only thing I would say to do for sure is this.

1. The bed is for sleep only. Your body will start to learn to relax when you lay in the bed.

2. Kill any stimulants at least 30 min before bed. No TV, Netflix, hell if reading gets you stimulated, stop it.

3. Dont drink after a certain time. If I ever had to get up to go pee it was like resetting a clock and it takes hours for me.

4.If meds work, Dont take more than prescribed. It doesnt work that way with sleep meds. They work or they dont.

5. Good Luck, I truly hope you find some answers.

I can't really do anything about it. I don't like melatonin, I'm not a drinker or drug user. Five hours of sleep a night is normal, been this way forever.

Dark cool room. Get a box fan for noise and circulating air. I have lots of fans in my room.

I don't

If I'm lucky, I get 25 hours a week.

I woke up Saturday morning at 7 a.m. after 4 hours of sleep. Got home this morning at 9 a.m., passed out around 11 for three hours.

And now here I am at 3 a.m. and I can't sleep

I learn what parts of sleep I am/am not getting...using a fitbit.

I also sleep in a sleeping bag/weighted blanket.

This sounds ridiculous, but try the “sleep with me” podcast. It knocks me out immediately

What are your issues? Can you not fall asleep? Or is it sustaining sleep? You waking up in middle of the night and can't go back to sleep? What is it?

I also find that as adults we don't need 8 hours of sleep like we are usually told. I find only 5 or 6 hours of sleep is all I need, although I can definitely sleep longer but if I wake up after 6 or so hours I usually can just get up and feel refreshed enough.
