Drinking while driving. Classic
No open container law in Mississippi. Your state has bigger problems than a guy having one beer on the way home from work.

I’ve seen groups of plant baws that get off shift and have road beers together outside the closest gas station before hitting the road

Riding around lease roads with a sixer is one of the perks of working in the oilfield

In Geismar there's a gas station on Highway 30 that lines up paper bags on the counter for men coming off of work to put their beer in. It's non-stop business for about an hour. Yeah, this is a thing.

It has literally never crossed my mind except for when I was a young idiot in high school and college looking for/going to a party. I figured all the semi successful adults had left stuff like this behind.

I sometimes have one while driving. Rarely after work though. It's usually after a day of yard work while driving to a friend's house.
I'm a firm believer that driving while drinking isn't a crime as long as you're below the limit.
The government is only proactive when it comes to regular people. Funny how that works.

When I was in college, I had a job as a district circulation manager for the local newspaper. Being new ot the job, my boss told me to ride one the most important routes to learn it in case we had to deliver it. The carrier was also the fire chief and if there was a fire, we were to finish the route for him.
So, we load up his little truck and he pulls across the street and stops in a parking lot. I'm thinking he's going to grab a bundle or two. Instead, he opens a cooler, fills two solo cups with ice, then fills them full of scotch and hands me one. That's how you do it.
It's a dying (or dead) industry, but if you see someone driving around late at night, early in the morning with a newspaper delivery sign on the back of their car, chances are they have a cold one handy. It's not like the cops are going to mess with them.

I used to on Fridays when I was in college. I took late mail for the law firm I worked for and stopped at the gas station and would get a 12 pack for the night and a tall boy for the ride home. The cup holders in my Tahoe were large enough to hold the tall boy, which I thought was impressive.

I dont calculate the time it takes to get somewhere by miles...I calculate it by how many beers it takes.

My dad had roadies my whole life. Not on the way to work or anything but he always had that one store after work he’d buy a tall boy at. On the weekends or trips? Always had a top popped.

We have a business near a lake in Arkansas. I swear every time I am there someone pulls up in their vehicle or even walk past a parked vehicle at the gas station nearby there is a roadie in the cup holder.

Times have changed so much. LA does have a drinking problem but I can tell you when I grew up in the late 60’s-70’s we didn’t go anywhere without a few beers or a drink. A road trip to a restaurant out of town was a weekly weekend experience.
I remember the day i got my driver’s license at 15 i had 3 friends with me and we went to the local drive through liquor store and bought 2 six packs. It was just part of the culture and honestly I don’t think any of these guys became alcoholic. Now I know alcoholics and those who say having a beer after work makes you an alcoholic don’t know what an alcoholic is. An alcoholic drinks before, probably. During and after work.
Driving drunk is a selfish and dangerous situation. I did it, regret it and have never faced any consequences for it. I was lucky and have had lots of practice. Many experienced drinking drivers slow down, calm down and are more cautious after a few drinks. Not condoning this and I’m sure this will offend some of you but that is the reality at least in LA.

I remember when mythbusters did the drunk driving episode and knowing I’d beat their asses in every facet
