Does anyone ever regret moving away from Louisiana?

It is really fun being from LA though... It's always a fun little tidbit to throw it out there in business chats- people remember that about me. Also, everyone here is super impressed by LA cooking.

She absolutely LOVES Vegas and tells me she never wants to move back to LA.
That is because Vegas is awesome.
I moved away then moved back to LA. After a few years back I realized I made a mistake. Decided to move back to Vegas. Never say never, but I seriously doubt I would ever move back to LA.

Huh, I figure what would really stick out to them is you being named Slagathor.

I have a friend who spent a year in Utah. He was miserable so he quit that job and moved back. I have another friend who moved to Philly right after he graduated. He loved it. Married a girl from Austin, so he lives in Austin now. He is never coming back. I married a girl from Idaho. She says she is never going back there. She loves it here.
To be honest, I don't think I could move away permanently. I'm too much of a homer. I love traveling. Been from Seattle to New York. From Jamaica to Germany. But by that second week, I'm ready to come home.

I will say this, when I do go back to my hometown and see my friends' homes, there is a bit of house envy there. Knowing what their mortgage is for a larger home with a yard vs. my rent for a one bedroom apartment can sting.
Feel free to come cut my yard anytime you want.

Yeah the envy goes away quickly whenever I hear your daily bitching about upkeep.

i mean, not really.
its largely filled with dumbasses on one spectrum, leaches on another, and then "i got mine go frick yurself good ol boys" in the final piece.
throw in the overweight population and acceptance of mediocrity across the region.
its pretty much the opposite of "good people"
Good God that's sad!
People are people, Rocket. They lie on all sides of the spectrum no matter their locale. Your inability, or bad luck, in not finding any "good people" during your time in La may reflect more on you than the area. I'm really not trying to be an a-hole, despite how it sounds.
What you described is how I feel about New Yorkers, but I know that's just my bias and not really true of the city. A little self perspective is needed if you believe your own bias.

Not even a little bit. When I go back I can't stay more than 2-3 days.

The "gathor" part is pronounced just like a Florida gator isn't it?

Left three years ago and have zero regrets.

Depends on so many variables.
As a nurse, had I stayed, I'd be making peanuts by comparison and stuck in an area with 2 to 3 job opportunities, TOPS.

Best decision I have made in my life to this point was leaving Louisiana for Colorado. I've had one friend here who was from Houma and missed it to the point he picked up and went back. I will never understand it but some people were never meant to leave far from home

Here's all I miss:
King cakes
Roast beef poboys
Good cheap crawfish
Saints games on TV
...
And that's all.

I regret having to move back to this place from awesome Houston

I probably wouldn't miss this crime filled shithole. But then again, I would likely get that with any major metro. I would miss going to LSU games.

I only regret the food and people. What I would do to get an Albasha is quite extreme.
