Louisiana has the highest number of residents that live where they were raised. Those people should be proud they aren't as scared as the rest.
That can also mean that not many people from different parts of the country would want to live here.

It's the opposite for me. I regret staying a lot.
Dream job would have moved me to Charlotte and I pussed out because our first baby was due in a month.

As a nurse, had I stayed, I'd be making peanuts by comparison and stuck in an area with 2 to 3 job opportunities, TOPS.
Louisiana pays it's nurses HORRIBLY. Louisiana is ranked second to last in best places to work as a nurse actually.

I moved here to Portland about 6 1/2 years ago. The weather here is fantastic. I really love the weather.
Though the people here suck. They are what I call faux nice. Friendly at first, assholes once you get to know them. I attribute that to them being liberals. And the homeless problem is ridiculous.
I really miss my family and friends.
So I pine for BR almost every day. Except in the summer.
If I was rich enough, I would have two residences. My summer residence would be in Portland, and my fall, winter and spring residence would be in BR.
So I regret my decision to move to Portland. I really had no choice, my work was in Portland.

Certainly a possibility, but Louisiana natives do have a shite load of pride in their state.

I will definitely miss some of the food, tailgating and/or attending every lsu football game, and the saltwater fishing, but that is it. Pretty much everything else is better anywhere else.

That pride is certainly not evidenced when driving any of the roads in LA. LA has the most litter alongside roads than any other state I've traveled to.

I've heard the homelessness situation there has gotten completely out of control

I was away for 24 years. Moved back about 7 years ago. Now I'm ready to GTFO again.

Absolutely not, I regret moving back.

I moved to Austin and while I do sometimes miss home, after I visit for a week I remember quickly why I moved. It's much better for myself and my family to live in Austin. Better schools, better economy, lower crime rate, better infrastructure, no state income tax, higher salaries, more jobs... I could go on and on...
Bottom line is if you move away you'll be fine after you give yourself a year of settling in and just visiting every few months should keep the home-sick feeling at bay.

Hell no. I get a reminder on my FB feed daily that I made the best decision to move to Austin.

Been in Massachusetts 15 yrs now. I miss my family, friends and the food. Do not miss getting laid off every time the price of oil goes down ( 19 yrs in oilfield laid off 6 times)

We went to a small town nearby named Franklin, TN. Really liked it there.
Would be a great place to live

regret
I wouldn't say regret, because I moved to Atlanta to get my first job out of LSU. But I did realize early on that I wanted to make my way back to New Orleans and I did.
Moving away for a while, or travelling, can give you a better perspective of home.

Not for a minute, but a lot of my family had already moved to Katy, so not apples to apples comparison.
I make more than counterparts in Louisiana, kids go to great public schools, living in cinco is awesome, and I work on the west side so traffic isn't an issue.

I lived in North Louisiana for 7 years and I missed Louisiana every day.

I went to high school in La, college too. Lived in Monroe, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette. Just something about Lafayette I didn't like. I mean it wasn't bad, but took the first opportunity to move. In Texas now, not in love with it but it's easy to live here. But I wouldn't move back to La but I miss some things.

I miss my friends and family, but jobs like mine don't exist in Louisiana.
I'd move to Baton Rouge in a heartbeat if I could.
