I lived in southeast Asia for a while. Missed home every single day.

Living like a king means jack shite. Good people in the south. When my buddy committed suicide over there, it was clear it was time to go.

He was old southern money and a goddamned gentleman. Just couldn't take being away from his wife and kid.

If there aren't liveoaks and cypress trees coated in Spanish moss, and café-au-lait women who blush when you smile at them and say "ma'am", I don't want to live there.

No, I can't imagine living in LA.

I never fit in and leaving was a great move on my part. Seems like most people that i know there are sorta misreable, or at least complain a lot.

One of my best friends moved to Seattle from LA.

They moved back 2 years later.

Loved Seattle and the area, but they were using all of their vacation to come back home to visit family and not to mention how expensive Seattle was

They eventually decided it would be better to be closer to family and be able to afford and have more time to travel while living in LA

So yes...some people have regretted moving away from LA

I miss Louisiana, but the choice I made was 100% the right one when it came to the much better economic opportunities outside of Louisiana.

Hope to move back someday and enjoy the fishing and food again though! Probably a long time from now but who knows.

Very good friend of mine and her husband and children just left LA this past summer for a job for her husband in Vegas. It was a job opportunity for her husband that was too good to pass up.

She was always all about staying in LA to be near family. She was the one most vocal to me that I would regret leaving LA when I moved away in 2005 ("But how can you bear to be soo far away from your family???!!")

She absolutely LOVES Vegas and tells me she never wants to move back to LA.

At first. After i graduated college(2004) i began applying for jobs in programming type jobs in lafayette and baton rouge. I came to realize fairly quickly that, in louisiana, if you turned on a computer or you program or you are in networking that most people thought they were all the same. Went for an interview and ended up setting up a network for person. Guy offers me the job and wants to pay me like 9 bucks an hour. I made the decision to leave the state and have never looked back. I do miss my mom,relatives/friends and dam sure miss the fishing but i believe i made the right decision. I have a family out here now so i will probably never return full-time.I dont miss the traffic from the job i had for a short time in baton rouge.Figured you guys would enjoy that last one. I still pull for my tigers though

i have no idea, but what I think people would regret is being away from friends / family. and that can be hard.

i mean, not really.

its largely filled with dumbasses on one spectrum, leaches on another, and then "i got mine go frick yurself good ol boys" in the final piece.

throw in the overweight population and acceptance of mediocrity across the region.

its pretty much the opposite of "good people"

I never said every story was. I was just speaking from my own personal experience. But your implication was that there was a chance I'm lying because my ego won't let me admit I made a mistake in leaving, which is just dead wrong.

Question is do you know someone who has regretted leaving?

Yes.

I know plenty of people in my age range that moved away after college and came back within 5 or so years. For various reasons, but mostly involving family/friends.
