Does anyone else here think King Cakes are nasty?

I've sampled a variety of King Cakes that are all represented to be "great Kin Cakes," and they all suck.
They are sickeningly sweet. There are so many excellent Louisiana foods, but it seems to always be out the nasty foods like King Cake and Po Boys.

I've never tried one from Randazzo's.
They are usually dry and overly sweet at the same time, which is quite a baking accomplishment.

Sucre and Haydel's are not as bad with the over the top icing and sugar.

It depends, they are not all made equal.
If you get a dry, stale king cake then it will be kind of nasty, but if you get a well cooked, filled with pecans or apples, or strawberry or other times of filling.. I don't think they are nasty at all.

Way too many low quality king cakes being made now. Too many people buying Walmart king cakes
Same issue with poboys. Everyone wants to do poboys. But there’s way too many low quality poboys and poboy places
Boudin is next. Soon there’s gonna be an influx of crappy boudin. I had a bad batch from some place other than Scott this past weekend. Someone brought it to a party thinking they could pass it off as the real thing
