Way too many low quality king cakes being made now. Too many people buying Walmart king cakes

This. Different vendors leave king cakes in our lunch rooms randomly the month or so leading up to Mardi Gras. Most often, they are the cheap Wal-Mart type that sit on the counter for days with only the extreme fatties picking them off slowly. On the rare occasion someone brings one of the quality cakes (Randazzo’s, Haydel’s, Sucre, etc) you almost have to find out immediately or it’ll be gone before you can get a piece.

Keller's in Lafayette has a legit king cake. It's super expensive for what you get but it is not a huge ball of dough. It's rather thin and soft.

how many po boys have you tried? roast beef? shrimp? oyster?

I've tried them all.

First, I love raw oysters and boiled shrimp, but fried versions of either suck. Then, you stick them on a sandwich? Po boys have way too much dry arse bread.

The lettuce on them looks like it came from Burger King.

Had them for the first time last year. Not traditional at all, but I enjoyed them very much. Will definitely be getting another this year.

One disgusting facet of living in the South is all the fried food. Chicken fried steak, if done well, is ok. Rarely, fried catfish is good. Good fried chicken is ok. But, for the most part, all the fried and battered food is shitty.

Frying ruins an oyster or shrimp.

It's a cinnamon roll with colored sprinkles. I'm not complaining though because it's good.

Why take perfectly delicious corn on the cob and ruin it by battering and frying it?

Ok I’ll keep playing. What about a roast beef po-boy made with good roast beef and a rich gravy?
