I love when NO fanboys way overestimate that city's importance and standing in the world. Over the years I've been on here I've heard it described as one of the leading cities in the country, if not the world.
If one of the first descriptions of your city by outsiders who visit is, "It smells like urine", it is not a leading cultural center. NO isn't even the leading cultural or economic center of the South.
NO is the trashy, tatted up cocktail waitress you plow on a boys' getaway weekend and never see again.

You are close.
You forgot, "when you wake up in the morning she's gone, and you realize she drugged you and stole everything you own, down to your underwear"

New Orleans needs leadership interested in making it great again rather than a slush pool for corruption.
It needs leadership that cares about real business rather than trinkets and tee shirt shops.
The challenge is that there are generations of neglect in infrastructure.
The city is a major hurricane away from being a shell of the shell that it is now.

I get this way about Atlanta. Outsiders who call it a shithole because they have only spent a few days in the city to watch a game or they had to drive through the city on their way to Florida or whatever.
Atlanta has the nicest suburbs out of any major city in the country. It’s a great place to live with endless amount of entertainment, nightlife, sports, restaurants, concerts, etc

Anyone else here like that? Maybe I’m just tipsy and still hungry thanks to the tiny portions at dinner but I can’t be the only one, right?
why would you get mad for him telling the truth?
you sounds like a douche who cant handle the truth

Nope. Progressive democrats own this area and now it will go through it's inevitable third world transformation. We are almost there. Every Democrat voter on this site loves the direction NOLA is going. They want more of it. Anything different is (insert an "ism" here)

New Orleans obviously has major issues with crime.
I still fricking love it though.

Your sample size consists of which cities? ATL has the same burbs as all the majors in the South/Midwest, except with the shame of 285 and 75/85, and Fulton county's shape to drain tax dollars out of Alpharetta to frick it up.

You sound like you have passion for it which is great. But like the others said you need to demand more of it. I'm from BR and I thought it was absolutely beyond saving. Then we formed our own city and EBR elected a republican mayor. That is still completely shocking to me. I legit thought there was no chance of anything like that happening here again. There's a lot of people here that are bullish on BR right now and that is frankly amazing.
There's still big money in NOLA. There's opportunities. People need to demand more of it.

I tend to get irrationally angry at the folks there in NOLA who keep putting up with the subpar services and crime and reelecting the same morons who have helped destroy the city. It’s a beautiful city with so much history and character. It could be so much more with the right leadership and unified support from the citizens to make it better in the right ways. I feel sorry for those who are there and want it to be better but are hamstrung by stupidity.

Funny, care to share what town you roll up your sleeves for you role model?

Nah, Baton Rouge actually had GREAT leadership during Katrina. It is what happened since that has destroyed the city. Holden was the last Democrat I ever voted for, and would vote for him again if he ran for Mayor.
It is the progressive scum that has destroyed both areas.

Dude was spitting facts
Not exactly. The Michelin star system for restaurants have nothing to do with a city being safe. The city ratings have to do with how many star-rated restaurants are in the city. Rio de Janeiro, New York City and Washington, DC are all on the list, and they are all crime filled cities.
