Does anyone else find Marx’s view of history interesting?

Not saying I agree with his beliefs about the overthrow of capitalism or its eventual death at all. But, I think one of the major stepping stones in my ability to critically think was to open up to a more class-based reading of history. It just makes things more interesting than always doing a top-down look.
It’s pretty liberating to just be okay listening to smart people even though I don’t agree with their politics, and not automatically shutting out entire schools of thought. Marxist thought has led to a lot of misery, but it doesn’t mean you can’t use it as a critical lens or get anything from it.

Lumping in Marxism and smart people is where you lost me. Anyone who espouses stupid shite like this is the type of person that desires to be seen as an intellect above their pay grade.
Having smart people debate in a vacuum will never morph into the dumb shite that resulted from Marxist thought because it’s inherently based on having narcissistic morons not being told to shut the frick up.

If you want to learn, grow and develop, have to expand beyond your sphere.
I have Friedman, Marx and Adam Smith on night stand as I type.
Curiosity starts it. Validation of my beliefs or challenges to them end it. In both cases, I am better for it.

See this is how I used to think. But it’s ridiculous to think that there aren’t smart Marxists or people who use Marxist ideas can’t be smart. I don’t agree with them, but being so cocksure about how they all are dumbasses is just something I don’t think anymore.

The irony dripping from this post is pretty incredible.

He was an incredibly angry and depressed person - much of his melancholy fed his envy of his peers.
In short he was much the loser.

I'm sure you possess an astute understanding of Marixan thought to offer this scathing critique

I took some critical theory classes in college and did find some of the philosophical writings and debates, particularly among the Frankfurt school guys to be interesting and easier to digest than Marx.

I salute you, but those three would be on the bottom of my interest scale.
