Depends on your state labor laws. If you’re anywhere in the South, most of those states allow for you to be fired at will with no compensation.

I think people who work for large corporations or deep-pocketed employers should just hope that their corporation remains VIABLE and not expect anything other than an "I'm sorry". Then subsist for now, stay positive, do something meaningful with your life, and hopefully return to a company that is still vibrant and not completely hobbled. I think part of the social contract requires us "have nots" to consider the health of the "haves" as well. After all, these are the people we will rely on in 60/90 days (or whenever).
