I don't have that much money or time off.

Easier to make nice with hunters so they give you some meat

Almost all my friends hunt and love it. I liked I guess when I was a young man. But just going sitting in the woods for entire week in the cold hoping to see a deer… it just ain’t for me

"I feel like" you are sadly detached from reality in a lot of ways.

You pay someone else to kill what is essentially a domesticated animal for you, so you can eat it.

Kinda of the same but we (me and my son) still spend a lot of the time in the woods from time to time, trailblazing and such.

Same here. Looking back I think it was more that I enjoyed being out in the woods with my Dad more so than the hunting itself. All the time before season getting things prepped. Once I was grown and moved out and was doing most of that and the hunting by myself it just really became quite boring to me. When my son got old enough I started back up with him and have very fond memories of it but again, once he was grown and gone it became boring again.
Will say I and very grateful to my SIL who is a hunting addict and keeps my freezer stocked full for me.

If the freezer is stocked then life is good.

When you pull the trigger, the work starts.

For everyone saying it’s boring, that’s the part I enjoy. No place I’d rather be than in the woods at daylight watching the world wake up. Watching the animals that have no idea about how important it is that I get my budget approved. It’s in these moments I forget too

I’ve never been hunting. It seems fun. I just don’t see myself ever attempting it for the first time alone. If someone invited me, I would go. I like shooting guns, and I like cooking.

I like to "hunt". I don't use bait or fencing or gas lines. I go out in the woods and find where the deer are and ambush them. I can't paying someone to let me shoot their pet deer. Actually, I stopped 3 years ago. Make all that past tense.

Hunted from 10 up to about 25

There's a fine line between hunting and sitting on your arse in the woods

I worked with a guy that said he grew up dirt poor country and when they needed meat he would go out night hunting with his Daddy to shoot a deer. Didn't matter the season. He was putting food on the table.
