Scruffy has good taste in medium sized trunks.

p, I have a 2017 XLT. I paid 32-33k for it.

Yep, I sat down in the Ford dealership with the salesman to talk about a white 2017 XLT 4x4 with the V8. Nicely optioned out, stickered around $42k. Before I even made an offer the salesman said they’d take $34k. $8k off the bat without me even asking. I opted for a Tundra instead at $31k.

Those were the days.

I have close to the largest pickup truck a man could get in 2018 and no, I never wish it was smaller.

It would have to be the size of a sleeper cab heavy haul peterbuilt for me to wish it was smaller. Ive had exactly one time when it was a problem (san Antonio parking garage).

*disclaimer - I also have a very small car

I had a nice 2006 Ford KR crewcab with a shiity engine and a 5.5 bed.
I hated that short bed almost as much as I hated that 5.4 engine, which started smoking on startup at 40k. It also was underpowered, but it got crappy MPG to make up for the lack of power.

I cant imagine a truck with a 5' bed.

Short beds on trucks are worthless, bur if it works for you, all good.

At the time the GM V8s were way better than the Ford

So why have a big truck instead of getting something more reasonable like a Tacoma or Maverick?

I’m sorry, what’s your definition of reasonable? You tell me what your rationale is first.

Agreed.

Traded it for a 6.2 GM in 2008, that had more HP and better MPG.

Went back to Ford in 2012 for the 6.7 and have owned 3 more since then with no issues.

Because I’m 6’5 and got tired of having to wedge myself into cars that keep getting smaller.

Why do you consider a full size truck unreasonable?

Well of course. My point was most of my buddies with trucks don't haul or move stuff very often. They just have trucks to have trucks, not to use them as trucks, if that makes sense.

And practical depends on the person, just meant my SUV seems more practical for me and would more practical for the aforementioned friends.

I get what you are saying, but if they had a SUV, how often would they be using all that extra trunk space that they would have? And is it something that could also be accomplished used a truck with a bed cover?

I think this also really depends on what car the wife drives. Husband with a truck and wife with a SUV basically solves every possible scenario most would come across.

Absolutely love my 2018 Ridgeline. Does exactly what I need it to do. It’s easy to wash, change oil, rotate tires, etc. I do all those myself. Great ride, AWD, very quiet and handles great. It’s built in Alabama by non-union, American loving, baws and bawettes. It has one of the highest domestic percentage contents of any pickup truck on the market. It won’t win any acceleration contests, but does have a 111 mph top speed.
