I really like the Canyon size and looks. Is it plagued with the same transmission/engine issues of the Yukon and Sierra?

My ol’ Tundra pulls the Triton just fine. Laugh at the 3/4 ton guys thinking it’s needed esp on their 1hour commute to the office.

I have over 100,000 on mine. Other than oil changes nothing. Other than that, nothing. The older I get, the harder it is to get out.

Full size trucks only.

Tell my daughter all the time. You grew up with construction trucks. I want to fall out. Not pull on the frame to pull myself out.

Yeah I don’t tow anything these days but if I needed to I’d rent a Lowe’s truck for $20/day. That was different when needing to haul a motorcycle to track days a few years ago—my Tacoma 2WD was a champ, but moved on and decided to trade it in.

My 6 speed manual hot hatch sports car can fit just as much in the back as a truck bed. I haul my mountain bikes every weekend with protective padding designed for hatchbacks and thick blankets for extra protection. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?

If you don’t like corner carving, I feel like many in this thread would he happier with a Subaru hatchback. AWD, good mpg and reliability, and can fit everything you’d normally get at the store.

Just the opposite: I recently moved from a 1-gen Tundra to a 2-gen Tundra because as much as I loved my 1-gen, I wanted it to be a tad bigger.

Not sure about the new models. Mines a 2023. I’ve had no issues.

Only part I’ve had to replace was the temp gauge.

It's just insane that an XLT is damn near 60k these days.

It’s nuts. Before Covid an XLT was mid-$30k range. They stickered in low or mid 40s but nobody paid that. Dealers would knock off $8k right away. I know “before Covid” is now 6+ years, but vehicle prices have never jumped $20k+ in such a short span. Hell, those prices jumped within about a year. So $20k price increase within a year or two and prices have not fallen at all. The new normal, somehow.

As economists always yell out, inflation is sticky. Once prices go up, it never goes back down.

With covid and this Iran situation, we’re seeing unprecedented amounts of inflation. If only inflation applied to employee salaries, because a 2-3% annual salary adjustment isn’t even close to what inflation has been over the last decade.

This is why we all feel poor but we just have to get used to it until it feels normal.

Yep, I have a 2017 XLT. I paid 32-33k for it. Luckily I'm a pretty low mileage driver so I hope to get several more years out of it.

Insane that if I wanted to replace it it would cost me 75% more in 9 years.

No, I'm good.

Having been in a bad wreck, my full size truck is probably the only reason I survived. After that, all my vehicles are large.

why have a big truck instead of getting something more reasonable like a Tacoma or Maverick?

I down sized a few years ago. 99% of the time I ride by myself and dont tow or haul anything. We take the wife's car if we go on a trip or rent a vehicle.

The problem is that the small trucks cost almost as much as the big ones. For the price difference, I'll take the 1/2 ton and still be able to travel in it with family.

quote: Exactly. I have the diesel variety and it will tow 7000 lbs. Ah yes, a nice comfortable interstate drive at 5,000 rpm the whole time. Also, will it stop 7,000 lbs when you're halfway into a burrito bite and the soccer mom in front of you didn't see traffic slowing down cause she was scrolling insta?

With a heavy load I keep the speed down to 65mph and around 2000rpm at cruise on interstate. I have no tow/haul mode. Trailer brakes are a must for that load and the controller is built-in on my rig as well as an exhaust brake. I pulled a 25kw trailer mounted diesel generator from Northwest Arizona to SWLA about 6500lbs in all with no problems. My truck is stock no mods or deletes.
