Yesterday at my house had a few people over. I made a couple of different things. I don't wear gloves at all while cooking, unless I'm cutting hot peppers. Even style, I do try to be hygienic, especially if I have guests over. I wash my hands multiple times. If I leave the kitchen to go do something, I'll usually wash my hands before I touch the pot again.

In any case, one of my friends had his gf come over with him. I don't know her, but I don't have an issue with her coming. It doesn't bother me. What did bother me was her constant badgering me for not wearing gloves during my food preparation/cooking. She claims it's very unsanitary and inconsiderate to have company and to not wear gloves over my hands.

I didn't make a big deal over it. I said fine, don't have any food then. She didn't eat, and didn't allow my buddy to have anything either. He ended up having Doordash deliver him some food(I'm surprised she didn't have an issue with this)

What says the OT, was I in the wrong? Maybe I am just trashy and a terrible host.

She sounds nuts. As long as you wash your hands upon them being soiled, I have no issue with you touching my food. Does she realize that you also breathe in the same area that the food is cooked?

Only if I'm messing around with ground meat. Otherwise, I wash my hands often.

I don't

I wash my hands several times while cooking.

I also take care to use only one hand to touch food and the other hand for seasoning, cutting, grabbing items.

Anytime I'm done cutting a protein, I wash my hands before moving on to the next step.

Sounds like this dude is married to an inconsiderate crazy chick and he should get out of that relationship fast.

Tell her to never go to a restaurant if she feels that way.

You handled it perfectly, other than she shouldn't have done any "constant badgering" of you at your house while you're cooking. It would be 1 time to tell her don't eat, and the 2nd time would be to tell her bye, you gotta go or a 2nd option to relentlessly make fun of her to the group of people until she gets the point and is beyond embarrassed.

You need to have a talk with your buddy. One talk, one time. Let him know the deal and leave it be after that.

But hey, let's get food from multiple strangers' hands that we have no clue if they wore gloves or not!!

No, my sink is literally 2 feet from my stove, I usually wash my hands when handling food...

Should've told your friend and his girlfriend to kick rocks, and GTFO...

When I'm grilling or smoking, I wear nitrile gloves over the top of cotton gloves.

frick no you weren't in the wrong. I would have waited until she took the first bite of door dash and asked her, "So you're eating that now, but are you sure the person who prepared it was wearing gloves?"
