How though unless everyone in Birmingham is following that meteorologist?

About 90% of people around here probably follow at least one, that one being James Spann. Those people retweet it, and then it shows up on their follower's timeline. Even so, the goal is to use it to get warnings to as many people as possible. You'll never get everyone to pay attention. Twitter is just another way to try to reach more people.

If you're on TD, you don't need twitter. All the breaking news comes here anyway.

Hat tip to our TD twitter users for breaking the news here for us.

Truth. I come here and use Twitter because between the two I find out stuff as fast as people in the area of the event.

I don't have twitter nor do I understand it. I find the constant social media references we're inundated with on television to be extremely annoying.

If you know how to use it, it's the best social media site out there.

I started using it for the Will Smith murder trial. It was very good at getting the blow by blow of the trial. I also use it for getting football updates. So trials and football that's about it..

About a year ago, my twitter account got hacked. Suddenly, I went from following about 30 to over 1,000. Many from foreign countries or unsavory individuals. I unfollowed all of these, changed my password, and then it happened again. Unfollowed again but it happened a 3rd time. Now I'm considering getting a new twitter account unless anyone knows of a better way to stop from happening.

During this process, I've learned that there are a lot of twitter accounts that sell sneakers and a lot of sophisticated or non-sophisticated 'pron' in the twitter world (or links to external sites).

To be honest, if you're on Tigerdroppings consistently, there is no need to follow Twitter.

Sorry, did not realize this had already been covered

Like reddit, I have a difficult time trying to figure out who is talking to who on twitter. I can't really decipher it easily.

It's a lot different

I'm talking about the fact that you can't even watch the news without having the news anchor's twitter handles plastered all over the screen.

How is FB and IG any different? Not sure if you're insinuating only Twitter has that issue, so forgive me if I misread it.

It's not different, but I also don't see Facebook is useful for news either.

Once in 3 months I look at it for 2-3 minutes. It was my staple for awhile.

this. As a person that grew up reading the newspaper, specifically sports, its just a more efficient way for me to get information.

if you dont understand it take 1-2 weeks of using it and you'll find it is very easy. Zero in on what your hobbies are, find people in that genre and give them a follow. If you dont like them after a test run, unfollow them.

its like people complaining about the new TD interface. After a few days you dont even recognize it is different.

I use it to spy on my kid. They tweet every fricking thing

But some skank hijacked my account and it won't let me fix it from my phone
