I’m looking for user experience for the best unit. Is front dash adequate or should I get front and rear cams?

I would get forward looking and rearward looking cams.

Not sure if title switch inbound.

I have the garmin dash cam 45, got it for ~$90 or something, great picture quality, worth it IMO, haven't been in any incidents since I got it but if I ever do it'll be good to have recording of it

Not yet. But as much as I drive in New Orleans, I am beginning to think it is necessary.

Yes. I've had a cheap ($100) front-facing camera for a year.

I've caught people doing some dumb shite, but, fortunately, the footage hasn't had to be used for anything other than a laugh yet.

The best one that looks forward is called a Tiger.

The rear-facing model that sucks is an Aggie.

Get a front and rear facing camera. Beyond that, don't spend extra money on "4k" cameras. If you get into an accident, they'll be close enough that a 1080P camera will work just find. Spend your money on a quality SD card, check the link for the one I use.

Just remember that when you run over Mother in the crosswalk, that video can be used against you. Goes both ways.

I could probably swallow a sd card pretty quick.

I use a ddpai mini2. It's only front facing and holds around 3 days of driving. I caught the deer running into the front qtr panel of my car. Caught another deer jumping out of the woods and running alongside of me. Caught a coyote darting out in front of me and barely making it.

Also caught someone getting rear ended while I was at a stop sign (they were turning in front of me).

Nothing dramatic like you see in Russia though. But it's good to have. I got one after my friend got t-boned from someone who ran a red light and they swore was green. No one stopped so fault was distributed equally. I don't want to be in a their word vs my word situation.

I don't use one. I've always considered them vaguely neckbeardy, for reasons I can't quite nail down. Of course, if you put a sticker on your car announcing to the world that they're being recorded, that's inarguably neckbeardy.

I have a freebie someone gave me from a casino. Only put it up a few times. Video is good enough to tell what happens.

Do those come with an instant-erase button in case you are in a wreck that's your fault?
