How was this past weekend?!

One of the best games I've ever been to, and definitely best of my trip. I've made it to seven gamedays now (including one NASCAR race at Talladega) and have had a hell of a time.

I've done a bad job updating y'all, I'm working a mid-season update post right now about what has transpired.
I knew a friend who ran out of gas a few years ago on the bridge, except he had made it over the very top. It's a pretty steep incline down, and despite his engine stalling, he coasted all the way down the bridge in neutral to the shell station right off the Port Allan exit.

But you really call it the “ultimate” SEC road trip if you’re not even going to take in a single game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

You're right, I might rework it so Week 4 I go to Arkansas at Auburn instead of Florida at Miss St. Would be more traveling. Would you choose Auburn over Starkville?
Yes. I've been in blue country for far too long. It's time to return home.

Do you need a driver?

I love driving more than almost anything. Since I got my license seven years ago I’ve driven ~170K miles between a few cars. I keep record of everywhere I’ve been, here is my map as of now and hope to expand it:

two games in one day has always been a goal for me, early season is the easiest way to pull it off

I think the closest I’ll come to that is going to Miss St at Ole Miss the day after Thanksgiving, and likely will go back to BR right after that, so might make LSU vs OU as well the next day.

I have numerous friends at UTK, so it seemed like a good place to start and spend some more time.

What do you shoot? Medium format?

I used to primarily shoot medium format film with a Mamiya 7ii, but recently switched to a digital medium format camera.

Will you be solo on this trip?

For the majority of it, though will have friends join me for a couple parts of it and I have friends in the majority of the towns I'm going to.

Sounds fun but the 100k you could make this year working could be worth millions if invested properly.

I will be simultaneously applying for jobs starting after the road trip, but this could be in the only time in my life I'm able to do something like this while not tied down by anything. So I'm going for it and doubt I'll regret it.
I might tweak my travels and throw Auburn and/or Arkansas in the mix somewhere. Other than that, I'm missing Kentucky, Mizzou, SC, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt. Couldn't make them all and had to make some decisions.

4 Georgia games eh?

With travel distances and how the schedule worked out it is disportionally represented. Might drop one later in the season and see something else. I will reach out though and thank you so much!

Will you be posting anything on social media?

Added my Instagram above, I will be posting throughout.
I'm a lifelong LSU fan and recent college grad, and have saved up money for months to go on the ultimate SEC football road trip this fall. I am a photographer, and am doing a photo project about the culture, tailgating, and traditions surrounding SEC college football. I grew up in BR and LSU football is more than just the game, its a way of life, as it is in college towns across the South. I am 24 and couldn't think of a better way to spend the next few months than to get to the heart of this thing we all love so much. Here is what I have planned out:

MAP

Week 1: UT Chattanooga at Tennessee
Week 2: Texas at Michigan
Week 3: Alabama at Wisconsin (hoping for a crazy upset!)
Week 4: Arkansas at Auburn
Week 5: Georgia at Alabama
Week 6: YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway (a diversion, but I've always wanted to go)
Week 7: Ole Miss at LSU
Week 8: Georgia at Texas
Week 9: LSU at Texas A&M
Week 10: Florida vs Georgia in Jacksonville, FL
Week 11: Alabama at LSU
Week 12: Tennessee at Georgia
Week 13: Ole Miss at Florida
Week 14: Mississippi State at Ole Miss (Nov 29), OU at LSU (Nov 30)

I'm going to hit nine SEC college towns, plus Ann Arbor and Madison, WI, which both should be a good time. It will be almost 20K miles of driving, and I'm converting my car to sleep in comfortably when not staying with friends. In between games will stay in state parks, and see everything else in the South I've always wanted to. Its ambitious but I've done many many road trips and have friends all over the place.

The first half of the season I am pretty set on, but the second half is somewhat tentative depending how the season unfolds. I hope to go to almost every game, but a few could potentially be cost prohibitive, though I mostly intent to photograph the traditions and partying rather than the games themselves. And of course it may be extended depending on what happens in the playoffs.

Overall, I'm very excited and will post updates if y'all are interested. If you have any inquiries, shoot me an email: williamclarkecasey@gmail.com. Or follow me on instagram for updates once it gets going: @williamclarkecasey.
Village: Powhatan, that's definitely a rough spot along LA 1

Town: Campti, some of the most rampant poverty I've seen in this state

City: New Orleans East, and it's not close; parts of it are probably the worst looking places you'll find anywhere in the country

And Clark sounds like the whiney employee who runs to HR to complain about his rights being infringed upon. You don’t want to be watched, be the owner.

Just because you don't own the company doesn't mean you have to kiss your boss's fricking boots. Many employers are pieces of shite, and (to a degree) being a pain in their arse if they're treating you like shite can be justified. A society where corporations have unquestionable control over their workers is almost as bad as socialism. We are living in an economy that has changed drastically in the last ten years, and most people aren't paying any attention.

How do you feel about police and body cameras?

There are inherent differences, as they are recording interactions with the public, and that footage can contribute to whether or not someone will go to prison. The stakes are a lot higher than determining fault in a fender bender.

Additionally, policing in this country has been fundamentally flawed against people of all backgrounds -- completely independent of race and black people -- for a long time. Almost any lawyer will tell you that law enforcement is not to be trusted, and they still do sketchy shite all the time even with body cameras.

Additionally, most of the decent ones are using AI to identify drivers without seatbelts, using their phone, etc. to flag any unsafe drivers.

This begs the question, where do we draw the line right now in how far we allow AI to seep into lives? These technologies are poorly understood even by the people who created them, and caution should be taken to avoid setting damaging precedents on a huge array of issues. Will people use this to justify wider implementation of AI to judge right from wrong (ie, wearing a seatbelt)? Just saying, it could become a slippery slope.

Commercial vehicles get absolutely arse fricked in court for minor fender benders.

Having dash cams facing the road I don't have much problem with, and provide ample evidence in the vast majority of cases to determine who is at fault. But to have a camera facing the driver and recording audio seldom would provide more context and evidence that would benefit the company. Employers are using them to watch their employees.
When corporations impose a nanny state too many of you just accept it, whereas if the government required this in all commercial vehicles to improve traffic safety everyone would be up in arms. In the last ten years, the level of surveillance Americans unquestionably accept from corporations has become more concerning than what the government does. If you can't see that, you have your head in the damn sand.
