I still don't understand the layers involved, like there is space but I think you can be in space but not be in the right space to be in orbit, but then there is space when you are so far out there that you no longer orbit. It's very sciency.
I do believe that all of the sound effects in Star Wars are BS, however. Because sound needs a medium like 'air' and there's no 'air' in space to propagate sound. So in the opening scene, that tower on the Rebel ship would not make a sound.

I can fathom an "infinite" universe, but what I can't wrap my brain around is that, if the universe is infinite and always expanding...what is it expanding into?
What is the space outside of the current boundaries of the universe that it is expanding into?
Then, if matter can neither be created nor destroyed, is the universe truly expanding or just stretching itself?
And at what point does the universe tear?

Space is endless but the universe assuming the Big Bang theory to be true is not endless. You could theoretically if you could travel fast enough outrun the edge of the universe. You would still be in space but surrounded by empty nothing.

Physicists and astronomers really don't understand it so I'm going with no as well. Dark matter - who knows? Black holes - still figuring them out. String theory - maybe, maybe not. We've come an amazing way in our understanding in the last 100 years, we have a very long way to go.

I love when the OT tries to understand things it is completely incapable of understanding like trying to understand the universe is finite in 4 dimensions when time is involved but is infinite when you only talk about the 3 dimensions of space... or PEMDAS.

One part I can’t get is that before the ‘big bang’ there was ni space at all. This rapid expansion created its own elements and space as it happened...about 95% of everything we know of happened in the first couple of seconds.

Wrong.
The temperature of something in the vacuum of "space" is basically the balance of the radiation it is receiving versus the radiation it is giving.
Radiation is how the earth is heated by the sun. Plenty of energy there.

Space isn't infinite. The big bang happened and an unimaginable small point of pure energy exploded in all directions expanding. The expansion of space time is still expanding to this day and is actually expanding faster and faster every day due to dark energy. The universe is not infinite. It had a beginning and just keeps getting bigger.

This. Many scientists believe the universe curves around on itself, almost like the inside of an eggshell. Theoretically, if you travel far enough, you'll end up where you began. Also, the universe isn't expanding: it's stretching.

Better to understand it is infinite and expanding than to think it is a box. If a box, what is on the other side of the box wall?
