Yeah, sometimes depending on the situation, other cars, etc.

Sometimes it's best to wait.

I prefer to have both lanes open. If they change lanes into you, you're at fault.

I get honked at all the time for basically stopping to turn into my neighborhood. I'm like Jesus people you drive this same road until about two feet before the turn you can't see if anyone is coming because its a hill. Excuse me for being safe.

I hate a-hole drivers.

I live in New Jersey. You can't really avoid this if you plan on getting onto most roads around here. Pick your spot and step on it.

Depends on the speed limit on the road. 35 mph 4 lane through town? Yes

65 mph highway? No

you are pulling out of a street…risky but yes, as the oncoming traffic can’t legally change lanes in an intersection. Can you cite this law please?

Depends on the road/traffic in the area. If it’s something like Bardstown Road here at rush hour, you’re not going to get an all clear to pull out.

If traffic is heavy, are you going to just sit there for a half hour?

If the nearest lane is clear and no one has their turn signal on in the other lane indicating a turn, then I'm going.

I realize idiots can/may swap lanes without indication, but I'm not about to sit there forever until ALL traffic is clear in the lane that I'm not even turning into.

Not if it’s an Nissan Altima in the left lane

I haven’t given that situation much thought- I just avoid pulling out in front of people

Dunno how it is where you are, but here in Indiana I don't trust anybody on the road to do anything rational. Signal, no signal, this lane, other lane, I assume they're going to target me, and I don't turn out until I know I can avoid whatever they do.

I've done it, but hate doing it. Will only do it if I've been waiting for an opening for a long time and cars are piling up behind me. Not only do you risk somebody changing lanes, but if you're in a bigger vehicle and situated in a way you can't make a real sharp turn, then you risk entering that far lane for a second

I always wait for an all clear

You never know when someone is going to throw their car into the other lane and the risk is not worth the gamble.

I haven't left my house since COVID started, so this isn't an issue for me
