I have a truck, wife has a SUV. I don't see us buying another new car (sedan).
My friend, I was in your exact shoes until a month ago. I was working and the case took me to a car dealership. Long story short I was amongst the used cars on the lot for a while, and began looking around at some... On the next aisle was a used Lexus IS350 F, absolutely beautiful car and one I had lusted after since the original IS250 came out 20+ years ago.
I had time to kill waiting on certain things to go down, so I got on the dealership website and found out that they wanted less than 25k for this immaculate (fancy Toyota) with 95k miles. I had always been a truck guy and still love my Tacoma, but man I do not regret it one bit.
The point being, since the demand for grocery-getter SUVs is out of control right now, you can get used sedans for dirt cheap. Even nice ones. I feel like a bit of a douche driving it, but damn is it fun to rip around in.

Long live the station wagon!!…I’m placing a build order for an Audi A6 Allroad in the next couple weeks.

I totally get your reasoning and find no fault with it. In our case my wife really likes the ability to see over traffic in front of her. She hated the blind spots in the rear. It allows us to drop the back seats and toss things in the back that I wouldn’t leave exposed in the bed of the truck.

I haven't owned a "car" since 2000. I'm 6'5" & have zero interest in sitting low to the ground while driving or trying to squeeze into a tiny driver's seat again.
This is me exactly.
I’ll never buy another car. Too tall to be comfortable.

I want a station wagon. Subaru makes one but it is not for people like me. A modern station wagon with good ground clearance, 4WD with a rear locker, and a real engine would be a desirable alternative to an SUV.

Outside of a few months at my current job driving a company car, I have never driven a car. I’ve always had an SUV, a Jeep, or a truck. When I started the job there was a vacant Malibu I drove, then we traded it in and I drove a newer Malibu for a few months and have been in an Equinox the last couple of years. When it is time to trade in I’m going to look at a Colorado.
My wife had cars a few times and I always hated driving them. She’s had a van and about 3-4 different SUVs since her Accord.

SUVs are basically the evolution of the station wagon.

Yes we have a model 3. Also have a Tahoe and Armada. Model 3 is nice to run errands. We don’t drive it on the interstate though. People drive like retards. When the Altima or Charger eventually slams into me going 110, I want to be in an oversized SUV.

The parking lot for the Brec park where these ladies play tennis on weekdays is at least 90 % SUV’s. Seems the days of Coupes and Sedans are coming to an end.
I keep a sales car for work and have to get a new one every 10 years. Mine is a 2023 so I have one more car purchase at 52 to get me to retirement age if I stay in the same role. I’d love to get my wife into another sports sedan but need an suv for the large dogs we have so that will probably never happen.

Now that the M5 weighs 5400#, no.
They ruined it. I wanted one the last time we were looking but wife wanted suv instead.

SUVs are middle class mini vans

A truck or SUV, why would you own anything else. Both seat as many as a car and have carry capacity. My SUV has served me well on my road trips to the NW and SW, can fit a full size air mattress in the back and slept in the comfortable front seat when needed.

I would buy a sports car/convertible. Its pointless to get a sedan when you can get a car based SUV with more room.
Posted on 7/25/25 at 8:58 pm to Cycledude
No. Have no need for a SUV. Have a SL550 and LS500. Best of both worlds. Wife has a GLE350 her choice so if need be we have hers.

Look for a low-milr, sunroof car.

Next vehicle for wife will be a Toyota Sienna minivan. Don't care if they aren't "cool".

I have a truck. Wife has an SUV. And then I have a M2 Comp fun car, but it’s a coupe.

A truck with a camper shell is better than an suv. Separates you from the cargo. Game changer
