Yes.
If they did their time and have been released from prison after their sentence has been carried out, I see no reason why they can't own a firearm. The 2nd Amendment is quite clear (shall NOT be infringed) on this.
One of the reasons why convicted felons are likely to commit another felony again is that we ostracize them from society after they have done their time for their crime. These people should be welcomed back into the world with open arms and shown that people do care and that they do matter.
One of the ways to do that is by granting them their god-given right to self-preservation.

This. Taking someone's guns away because they committed fraud or counterfeiting doesn't make sense.

The problem with this is, there are a huge number of felons that get out and have every intention of committing more felonies. Someone who went to prison for theft, what job are you going to whole heartedly trust them with? The job opportunities becomes much more narrow for jobs where opportunity theft is either mitigated or eliminated. Same can be said for many other crimes.
Red Flag laws: I've had two kids in my family murdered by their father who would have had his gun rights removed if we had red flag laws. I'd 100% give up my guns if it meant we could have those two back. BUT, the world we live in, there are so many avenues to get a gun, that there is a HUGE chance he would have gotten a gun one way or another.
The next problem is, once someone is called out for having red flags, what is the burden of proof to get their right to possess a gun back? This is the biggest hurdle in the red flag proposition IMO. It also implies a trust in whatever rules the government implements.
Lastly, the most overwhelming disappointment of liberal ideas is that their ideas aren't necessarily in bad faith, they're just out of touch with reality. The way things work in their head aren't the way things work in reality. This is a great example of that. Create red flag laws that prevent someone displaying odd behavior from having a gun. . . not a bad idea logically speaking, except the law itself doesn't prevent them from getting their hands on a gun. It's just another law to break on the road to breaking another law.

By that logic, there should be no such thing as a registered sex offender.
If they can be trusted to live in society again, their right to privacy should be restored.

We all know felons will buy legally obtained weapons if allowed. Lol!
It is such a disgrace for them to have to buy a weapon that the serial number been scratched off.

Yes, felons released from prison and finished with probation should be allowed to own guns. If they can be trusted to live in society again, their rights should be restored.
Yes, especially if it's non-violent crimes, like theft or felony DWI.

If someone is acting irrational and there is concern because that person does have firearms in their home, I don't have a problem at all if law enforcement wants to temporarily take away their guns.
I wish law enforcement would take your wheelchair and internet access away.

I think OweO lacks all critical thinking skills.
He is the target audience for 60 Minutes to give an elementary rational to red flag laws and then jump in line as a willful idiot.

For those who don't know exactly what the red flag law is, it is a gun control law that allows police or family members to petition a state court to order the temporary removal of firearms from someone who ALLEGEDLY is a danger to other people or themselves.
How does someone defend himself against lies that might be told by a spurned girlfriend or a po'd wife ?
How do you prove a negative (i.e. prove you've never acted irrationally) ?

I'm just glad OweO started a thread worthy reading.
And no, I don't think felons should legally be able to carry firearms.

If a guy went to jail for embezzlement or insider trading...why not.
