I never look because I took typing in high school. Our teacher would walk around and tap you on the hand with a ruler if she caught you looking.

I noticed a lot of my younger co-workers hunt and peck compared to people of my age. It's obvious they did not get taught typewriting/keyboarding when they were younger. Kind of goes with my observation that today's generations, despite growing up and using technology almost non stop, can't fix any of it or troubleshoot it when something goes amiss.

No, because I know how to type.

I think this is a Gen X and an Elder Millennial thing. I took typing in 5th and 6th grade. Give me home row, and I can type 90 words a minute. My parents? They hunt and peck. My nephews and niece? They hunt and peck. My generation, we type like a Tommy Gun and never look down.

bullshite that it's Gen X and Elder Millennial. I'm a young Boomer (Gen Jones, 61) and type as fast as you. My late 1970s bunch took typing in HS and continued to type in college and on computers at work afterwards. Your parents must not have had jobs where the were on the computer much. It absolutely it muscle memory. I even know when I make a mistake without thinking.

I don’t have to think about it because Mrs. Williams would smack our hands with a ruler if we looked at the keys.

Gen X - I don't. Daughter is 23 and I doubt she does because she types as fast as I've seen anyone type. But she should since she's had a laptop since she was 5 and has been taking school notes on a laptop since she was in middle school.

Hard to find home row on an ipad... also, hard to feel specific keys. I can somewhat type without looking on my cell phone, tho auto correct saves me.

I can type pretty well without looking or even thinking about it. And its like riding a a bike. I have had job stints where i was not on the computer much for years, and can pick it back up no problem.

Not since I learned how to type using the "qwerty method" many years ago.

My biggest problem for the past 4 months is continuing numbness in both my index and middle finger of my left hand due to carpal tunnel surgery. I'm finding myself hitting the wrong keys more than I care to and it's frustrating as hell.

Before the surgery I could easily hit 75 wpm with an occasional error. Now, I've got to look at the screen and hit backspace to make a correction just about every sentence.

I typed the below message without looking at the keyboard. Tell me if there are any typos in what I wrote:

I can’t type that fast, but without taking typing class in high school I can do pretty good without looking at the keys. I can do better on some keyboards than others
