Do you talk to strangers on an airplane or stick to yourself?

I'm the quiet, stick to myself type, either reading something or sleeping. I've always been curious of people who chat up the stranger they sit next to. 2-3 hours of small talk or hearing about the family or career of some guy you'll never talk to again seems painful beyond belief.

Usually when I talk to myself in public, I don't have to worry about people talking to me.

I usually stay to myself. I was on a plane Sunday with my headphones in and the dude next to me still insisted on having a conversation. I never know how to politely tell them I'm not interested in talking.

if it's a decent looking woman, I'll chat her up. If it's a dude or old people headphones go on immediately.

I'll talk happily with the people who don't give me the impression they will talk the whole time. The ones that pass off the vibe as wanting to talk the whole flight will get the cold shoulder. I like some conversation, but I like to zone out too.

airplanes are becoming walmarts of the sky. pretty trashy frickers flying around these days. they need to raise fares to weed out the undesirables.
