re: Do you split time with your wife and Mom on Mother’s Day?

The woman who invented the damn thing even spoke out against the commercialization of a day to recognize mothers.
It’s become nothing more than a “ you love me this about of $$” day. If you don’t meet the expectations you get wrath all day

I’m celebrating myself as a single dad on Mother’s Day because I’m a strong and empowered King.

I take the opposite tac of most: I spend most of the day with my mom, and give my wife a token gesture. Kids are developing their own gift ideas.
My thought is that my wife gets her birthday, v-day, anniversary, and pretty much everything else. Also, she's not my mom. So Mom gets most of the focus today.
Wife doesn't like it, but deals. Can't give em everything.

Agree after your kids are say over 15 it's up to them to come up with something for their mom to let her know they love her. They are all here today visiting so really that's all most moms wants anyway. What can i add that would make it better for her?

That sounds like a damn good day. Damn it man!

Had a nice dinner out with our family and my in-laws last night.
Spending the day doing whatever my wife wants.
We’re all going visit my mom later this afternoon.

I don’t have parents. That simplifies matters on Mother’s Day. This year we’ve come over to my MILs house and, per her request, I’ve grilled burgers and dogs for everyone.

I spent this morning with my wife, and I am spending this afternoon with my mother.
Brought my daughter over to see my mom for a little bit this morning.
My wife prefers to not spend the day with my mom, so I get to deal with that every year.

Worst damned holiday of the year. Impossible to not piss somebody off.
It’s frustrating. My sister and I always take my mom and dad out along with our families on Mothers Day. My wife always seems to get angry because it’s Mother’s Day for her too. My mil passed away several years ago, and I feel that is somehow playing into it. The other possibility is she’s a woman, and she just likes to get angry over trivial things.

We went to brunch with both of our moms today. It was the perfect way to see everybody early without making a bunch of separate trips. I'm about to take my son to the park to round out the day.

My mom isn’t someone people like to be around. Neither my wife or my brothers’ wives enjoy being around her. Forces us to split the day.

First Mother’s Day without my mama. And my wife threw her back out but refuses to do anything about but complain. Been a rough one.

you better have a good story as to why youre "not allowed", otherwise your wife is a controlling bitch

You forgot to factor in the mother in law.

No one is forcing you to buy your mom anything. You can go hang out with her for free.

Had dinner with my mom last night and saw her at church this morning.
Husband and kids took me to lunch and will cook me dinner tonight.
Now they are all gone to visit my mother-in-law leaving me to nap and read as part of my gift. Not one complaint.
So I guess my husband does kind of split time between his mom and me, albeit quite unevenly, but everyone seems pretty happy with it.
