Thing weighed about 150 pounds

First law firm I worked for had Mag Cards, and everyone thought that was some true high tech equipment.

What about paying $200 for the fast rewinder. I knew some people who had that. All it does is rewind
Also I remember in school having to tell teachers to stop the tape first and then rewind. They were not aware you could do it faster that way and would sit there forever while it played backwards

I remember our first VCR. A beta Sanyo. We lived on the northshore and had to go to Campo on Severn to rent tapes. Actually what you did was buy a movie for like $100 and bring it back that was your membership fee. Finally Covington Video on 21st opened and we could get movies in Covington. Soon followed by video co-op and a few more.

Mid 80's. Fisher stereo with massive sound, turntable, tape deck and the first cd player in the family. I inherited those speakers as a young man and totally regret selling them when I moved from my last home.

big arse Satellite dish onside the house $$
I remember those big arse black things. Combined with the huge antennae on the roof for local channels, house looked like a NASA office.
Member having to twist the bunny ears while turning a dial, while someone on the roof played with the antennae and yelling out the window to stop when the picture was clear. Good times

I had a Sony 37 or 38 incher that weighted 200 pounds. Supposedly the glass was a few inches thick.
eta-I left that heavy sonufabitch when I sold the house. Took three of us to move it in. Up steps.

Ours still does! My son, now 30, used to say want ding! We warmed his bottles in it, and it had a dial, wasn’t even digital!

Atari was my earliest memory around 80. Bought us a Commodore 64, then an early HP PC. I remember playing games like lode runner, aliens, and the three stooges on the Commodore 64. Anyone for Summer Olympics?

According to them at the time, it was around $1 million per piece of technology

I remember my dad renting a VCR for a weekend for over $100.
We had an early microwave. It was huge. It worked for 30 years and my parents redid the kitchen and got a built in that they have replaced 3 times in 8 years.
My first computer was the Apple II e in the ad above. I wish I still had it.

And my friend’s step dad had the huge NASA satellite dish in the back yard. I remember watching the porn when his parents weren’t home and then having to change to the proper galaxy and run out of the house hoping that dish would set itself back right before she came in. Good times.

they paid close to 3 grand for a pc back in 1990. We had that computer (and continued to use it) until like 2004.

Wife paid 1600.00 for that 37" samsung like 7 years ago. Now you can get a 75" 4k smart tv for less than that.

It’s crazy! Yet smart phones are still pretty expensive

My dad got my mom a Jenn-Air microwave around 1983-84 ish. It was several hundred dollars, as I recall. It was a pretty basic microwave, sort of like you’d get these days for $50-$75. Anyway, she got her monies worth as it that thing worked like a charm for almost 25 years.
