What i have a problem with is the creation of man. There is so much archeology documenting the evolution of man. Can they both be true?

I believe the old testament are parables. Stories that put things in perspective for people maybe?

The bible says Adam and Eve were the first humans right? God created them and those two people were responsible for populating planet earth. That means their kids had to breed with each other and genetically speaking would that even be possible? So they had a bunch of kids who all got with one another to produce their own kids, then the kids, produced by siblings would have to get with their cousins to produce the next generation. At least there were no other people for Adam and Eve to cheat on each other with.

And Noah's ark. So this dude, even with the help of others, built this huge ark.. Then went out and captured a male and female of every animal on Earth. That would have to include animals they didn't even know about yet right? So they had tigers and lions on the same boat as deer, elk.. animals lions and tigers love to eat. They were really risking things by only getting two of each animal.

And the only thing we have to tell us it all went down was some writing that was translated 500 years later... Then with all of those writing people decided what would go in the bible.. So what wasn't put in there?

I specifically enjoy the ones that prove big ticket items like Sodom and Gomorrah and Noah's ark. Then the atheists pivot to "ok, well I guess it happened...but it was just natural! Had nothing to do with God!".

Then you say "well, I guess the fact that Moses' blood line surviving the great flood and on for generations was just a fluke.".

Isn't all pre-flood history passed on by one man, Noah?

No one ever wins an argument, they just keep spouting their opinion until they get tired of making opposing statements. It is a waste of time to participate in an argument. Think about it, can you say you have ever won an argument or did each of you just agree to disagree at best? If someone wants to discuss something and they actually will listen and consider the response, that is different. One of the best traits to have is to be teachable. Listen and consider everything no matter the source and determine if it could be correct. Sometimes I have heard incredible words of wisdom even from children. Don’t discount what someone says due to age or status. They could be correct or offer you insight. Strive to be teachable.

That said, the OP just wants to argue. He isn’t going to consider anything you say or do any reading on his own. Ignore the temptation to waste your time.

The creation of the earth and man is the easiest biblical thing to believe as opposed to the alternatives.

The Bible is a history book. Skeptics like to point out the things that the it doesn’t contain. The books weren’t put there to tell everything that’s ever happened in the world, just what God intended for us. The gospels are some of the most scrutinized words ever written, but lots of people come to believe when they attempt to prove them false. There isn’t a historic figure before 1500ad that has more things written about him that Jesus. Taking religion out of it, the manuscripts become undeniable.

It is referred to as a "forbidden fruit:, but never specifically as an apple.

So you just have bad comprehension.

You said you knew for a fact that it wasn't an apple. An apple is a fruit.

See, it's quite possible that the forbidden fruit is not an apple. It's also possible that it is an apple.

Your certainty is the issue.

I have no problem viewing Genesis as allegory. Allegory by which God communicated to us what he wanted us to know. He was communicating through primitive peoples who had no knowledge of science. I believe the earth is old and that life evolved over millions of years.

I have no problem viewing the gospels as true accounts of the life and death of Jesus.

I have no problem believing in the virgin birth and the resurrection.

I also love watching Prots wrestle with John 6.

Look at what God created, when you consider all he's done and continues to do then the stuff you mentioned seems easy!

I think the old testament is parable based... Stories to help understand the universe. But I think the new testament is pretty accurate.

I used to not believe it all was true when I was younger and thought the world had to exist in the exactly the way I assumed it would based off of my lived experience and the data points given to me by others.

Then I did a variety of psychedelics over the course of a decade and became certain all of the “crazy” stuff in the Bible is true and probably understated. I’d just been living without knowing there’s other dimensions to the reality I had been experiencing.

I’m not recommending anyone else do this, it’s just what worked for me.
