i generally do not believe in the mystical, supernatural claims... but i do realize, much like the early church, that most of those stories were not to be taken literally, but they were allegorical stories that were meant to convey a specific point...

and even being agnostic, i can still go to a church service and get a message out of what they are saying, even them using scripture that i may not necessarily feel the way they feel when hearing it...

but honestly it does make me happy to see people being affected by religion in a positive way... if that works for them, great... i'm all for it, and support it...

There are 3 levels of interpretation.

1.) Literal
2.) Allegorical
3.) Hidden

Me personally, no.
But I certainly don’t hold it against people who do.

What did it have?

Genesis 7 2-3 says "Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate, and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate, and seven pairs of the birds of the heavens also, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth."

It didn't have two of every animal. Some were 7 pairs, so 14 of them.

Then what's your point? If the whale is a popular culture add on then by definition it isn't relevant to the Bible.

You're absolutely right. I'm going to assume giant grouper from now on (no sarcasm).

I love when people say stuff like this. Wouldn’t God doing things be absolutely unbelievable? He’s literally God. He can do whatever he wants.

Like Jesus walking on water. Wouldn’t that be absolutely wild? Of course it would be hard to be believe but that’s kinda the point of Him being God and everyone else not being God

Some of them, yes. The more fantastical ones were more than likely how they explained shite that they couldn't understand.

Why ?

Because it doesn’t happen today?

If it did today… people won’t believe it either.

It’s a never ending disbelief because you know science.

So even less believable for Cosmo

Can you point to the scripture where you're told that it wasn't an apple?

I am absolutely certain it wasn't.

Since you're questioning me, can you point to a scripture where ir says "apple"?

I have no clue if it was an apple or not. I never said it was. I asked how do you know that it wasn't. You still haven't said how you obtained this info.

Genesis 3 covers it pretty well.

Just checked. Still only seeing forbidden fruit. Looking for "not an apple" or fig or grape or something. Haven't found it yet though.

Yes it all happened. You don’t get to pick and choose what parts of the Bible did or didn’t happen as a Christian just because they are such wild stories. Either you believe the Bible in its entirety or you might as well just throw it out

I’m somewhat skeptical of all those 900+ year old dudes.

Top 10 Longest Living People in the Bible
Methuselah: 969 years
Jared: 962 years
Noah: 950 years
Adam: 930 years
Seth: 912 years
Kenan (Cainan): 910 years
Enos (Enosh): 905 years
Mahalalel (Mahalaleel): 895 years
Lamech: 777 years
Enoch: 365 years (Enoch is included for his story, although he did not die, but was taken by God, as noted in Genesis 5:24)
