re: Do you really believe stories from the Bible?

quote:yet there is a man who rises from the dead and then ascends to heaven which everyone who claims to be a Christian believes happened. That’s not any more far fetched than to believe that the same God who raised from the dead also delivered the Israelites from Egypt in spectacular fashion
There are no silly, childish things like a worldwide flood, Noah's ark, Jonah and the fish, Moses parting the Red Sea, 800+ year old people, etc. Those are the mythologies of a simpler people who did not understand the world like people of the Roman era.
You don’t get to Jesus without God first parting the Red Sea to deliver his people

Isn't all pre-flood history passed on by one man, Noah?

Parting of red sea was prob very low tide.
Noahs ark didnt have 2 of every animal
Jesus’ miracles yes

Yes it all happened. You don’t get to pick and choose what parts of the Bible did or didn’t happen as a Christian just because they are such wild stories. Either you believe the Bible in its entirety or you might as well just throw it out
re: Pastor Jeremiah Johnston on the Shawn Ryan show - talks book of Enoch & shroud of Turin
Posted by LakeSide Lovin on 4/2/26 at 6:05 pm to hawgfaninc
The shroud of Turin im convinced is 100% legit. There’s just no way something like that could be forged. As for the Book of Enoch I’ve read it but I take it with a grain of salt as it’s not scripture. I find the people who are really into the book of Enoch get way too deep into conspiracy theories for my taste. The Ark of the Covenant stuff is the same way
re: Random thought about Heaven - how old are you up there?

quote:Heaven only seems boring to those who don’t truly understand what it means to be in heaven. Life actually wondered a good bit what it will be like to see those who died as infants and what they will be in terms of age
2. The concept of Heaven seems very boring. If there’s no sin or suffering or competition or disagreements or intimacy or emotions or confrontation at all up there, then you’re eliminating nearly all of what makes us human.

This is so beautiful
Trump is a deeply flawed man (who isn’t) but deep down he truly seems like he has a heart for God

So you think the government program Gaetz is referencing involves angels/demons?
I’m just saying that this idea isn’t new and has happened already in human history

quote:so few people these days even those who claim to be Christian’s believe all the story of the Bible actually happened. That never made any sense because how can you pick which parts you believe and which you don’t. I believe it all happened even the events of Genesis 6
Whatever one believes as the Bible its also history. Just ask the oh so many who scoffed at the brimstone end of Sodom and Gomorrah story.
re: Matt Gaetz: Secret program exists for aliens to breed with humans to make a hybrid race

No we are talking about beings not from Earth creating a hybrid race with humans. Exactly what happened in Genesis 6. What you call them is irrelevant it’s the same idea

I mean this exact thing already happened once in human history so it’s possible
Not saying I believe this is what’s happening but this isn’t a new idea

re: How often do you actually sit down and read a book?
Posted by LakeSide Lovin on 2/25/26 at 11:28 am to CBandits82
I read the Bible for a good 30 minutes most morning when I wake up but I couldn’t even tell you the last time I sat down with just a regular book to read. I wish I could get back into it but I just lost the interest
As for how do you find the time it’s like anything you’ll make time for stuff you want to do even if it means getting up a few minutes earlier
I can’t stand ebooks though I’ve tried and it drives me crazy we get enough screen time as is during the day

re: How did a planet form that can support life but the life on it cannot live forever?
Posted by LakeSide Lovin on 2/22/26 at 12:41 pm to crimsoncoded94
The answer is actually really simple.
Humans were created to live forever but through sin death entered the world. One day God will burn up this world and will create a new earth where believers in Him will live forever

If you haven't done it, read the Book of Enoch. You'll understand why they left that one out.
