if i bring a cooler, it comes home with me. If i bring beer and put in their coolers or fridge, i leave it.

If it's generic (bud lite, Miller lite, etc) I will but if it's select, no.

My thought is that not providing libations for your guests is somewhat of a breach of etiquette in itself. It's common but it's not proper. So if that courtesy is waived, all other rules are on the same footing. If I want my leftover beer, I take it. If the mood strikes me otherwise, I don't. And I don't think twice about it either way.

I'll try that as I have two of them leftover in my fridge from a pool party over a month ago.

I drink all my beer then drink some of theirs.

Then and only then do I leave.

You bring ice chests to dinner parties?

Where I come from we dont have "dinner parties". We have a supper where someone cooks something and we sit around drinking alcoholic beverages. Rarely is there any wine. We dont dress up in a suit and tie, or evening gowns either. Ice chests are to hold drinks for chilling so anytime we have a get together, there will be ice chests. You sound like a fricking snob.

I know people that show up with a six pack drink all night then leave with a six pack. Seen it happen to many times. I have my ice chest with lots of beer and anyone can go in my ice chest and get beer it don't bother me. I usually have a ice with a case of beer and a ice with soft drinks for the kids. All of the kids usually empty that ice chest up. That's what it's about sharing

When they left they gathered up the 2 or 3 that were left and took with them. I thought a lot more highly of them until they did that.

Why would that make you think less of them? Maybe they wanted to have a couple more after they left.

If I bring beer it is normally some craft beer that I want to drink myself and have my host enjoy and I leave what's left. If I bring wine I leave what's left and even leave the unopened bottle as a hostess gift. If I don't want to do that I only bring one bottle in and if needed go back to the car and get a second bottle.

If anyone takes what they bring from my house it is their's to take and I have absolutely no problem with it.

Whatever I bring, my plan is to just leave it there unless someone insist otherwise.

this. i don't get this thread even. If you going to a party who in the hell doesn't bring an ice chest. And the people I hang around with drink too much beer to be supplying 5 cases just to hang out a cook!!

My Yeti stays in the bed of my truck. Going to a party generally means about 12 White Cans are in there. I may throw a soft side in there if I am too lazy to go back and forth to my truck.

However, most of the parties I go too, my buddies typically have beer present but I hate to just show up and drink their beer. Pretty uncool and might draw some hazing from the patrons.

Because I asked a question? I think dinner party, I think of the Seinfeld episode. If I'm a snob for watching Seinfeld, then I'm a snob
