My wife is the exact opposite. She is going through the change and you could hang meat in our house and she still says its hot. I wear sweat pants, socks and shirt always and have 1 -2 blankets while in the recliner.

Plus there are at least 1 -2 fans in each room not counting the ceiling fan. Thermostat will read 70 but I think she rigged it.

My wife isn't quite there yet but she's probably getting close and always hot. She'd keep it on 67 with the fan on high at night if everyone else wasn't cold. She's nowhere close to being fat.

My wife told me a couple weeks ago I needed to buy some sweatshirts if I was going to keep complaining about it being cold.

She is not fat either.

She won't even turn the oven on anymore because she will have to have 2 fans on the kitchen counters.

Years ago I never got cold and would freeze her and our daughters. I guess I'm getting payback.

I'm 100% comfortable at 78 but we keep the humidity levels at 40% or below. We do keep the bedroom at 74 any warmer and I don't sleep as soundly.

Now if we are having a party or just a few guests over I always move it down to 72 the night before. Especially this time of year if there is a lot of cooking going on, the doors are getting opened a lot and 20 or so people inside it is easy to outrun the cooling capacity of the units.

I was thinking 2 units would be way better. Lots of variables, age/SEER/insulation/ high ceilings, etc.

I'm all about foam, though.

Are dehumidifiers any cheaper to run than AC?

On newer AC units, you an set the dehumidifacation level.

It is also very important to not oversize the AC for the area.

If the AC is too big, it will short cycle and never "dry" the air.

Then you don’t have traditional equipment, or you don’t live in the deep South.

You won’t get 40% humidity in La. without special equipment.

Old dude at my work. Good thing I only see him a few times a month. Comes in smelling really musty. He said his electric bill is less than $50.

I knew 3 of them, one grew up without AC until he was 50, just preferred it that way.

2nd ended up marrying a Chinese massage parlor gal because she kept giving him "free ones" Had problems ever since.

3rd committed suicide and likely a 45 year old virgin when he expired, anti guns but ate a bullet

Yeah, it's really the humidity that is more a factor than anything.

If you do this anywhere in the Deep South, you're asking for death, and you're spitting on the grave of our forefathers who toiled in the heat to provide us with an A/C'd future.

My damn parents!!! I know they are secret millionaires but damn whenever I visit that AC is off or on 76. Dad gets pissed when I touch it too. They also only buy 1 ply toilet paper.

Are we brothers?! What the frick is it with the 1 ply toilet paper? I'm just going to use 3 times as much as if they'd get the 3 ply.

I usually keep my house at around 74-76 during the day, but if I invite people over I crank it down to 70. I never wanna be that person who sweats out their guests.
