Do you know any Jewish people?

One group that I find is barely represented at all in Louisiana is the Jewish people. I live in Lafayette, and I believe there used to be a synagogue in town, but I don’t believe it’s still active. There is a small Jewish cemetery downtown. I feel like I never really have knowingly met any Jewish people in this area.
Do you have any Jewish friends or family? Have you experienced their culture in any way? I’d like to learn more, if anybody has any stories to share.

There are only about 11 million Jews in the world. I was amazed when I heard that stat.
But to answer your question yes I do.

Yes. A few. There are more than you might think. Most of them don't have beards and yamakas.
ETA one of the early settlers of ours town was Jewish and also a Confederate veteran. There's still a street named for him. A lot of small southern towns used to have a few Jewish families. Most of the time their children grew up and moved away.

Personally I know A few in New Orleans. One is from Boston, one is from New Jersey, other is from Jackson, MS (his father is probably from somewhere else).
Few synagogues in NO and Metairie so they are around but I don’t really know many personally.

Had a Jewish girl in my class all through grade school. She used to bring dradles every year around Hanukkah time and we would all end up gambling our lunch money. Somehow she always won
