This. I guess to prove you're an alpha male and you're not afraid of potential burglars? That's some darwinism right there. What if someone breaks in while I'm taking a shite, or asleep, or rubbing one out? Alpha male or not, I'm at a huge disadvantage unless I happen to be sitting right next to my gun. Not worth the risk in any scenario, especially with wives and young ones in the house too

I don't rely on the morality of strangers for my home security, so yes I keep my doors locked.

Hell no. If I’m home the doors are not locked and my garage is open.

Why would you keep your doors locked if you’re home. Do you not go back and forth inside to outside all day?

I do lock at night when going to bed

Front door facing the street is always locked. Back door that is unlocked during the day while we are home opens to a fenced yard off the dogs’ room.

If I'm home alone, yes. Otherwise not really.

Maybe she’s trying to tell me something
Maybe SHE didn’t lock the door...

Honestly it’s never crossed my mind that someone would break into my house in the middle of the day while I’m home. That just doesn’t happen here

Front door is always locked unless I'm in the front yard. Back door pretty much stays unlocked while the sun is up unless I know I won't be going in and out, if we sit down for a movie or something I'll lock it. All doors locked at night.

Yes, but I grew up in New Orleans. My kids, though, leave them unlocked and I have to go behind them to lock up.

It doesn't cross my mind much either, but it's the habit I developed from a young age. Break-ins "never happen" until they do.

To me, it's not like it's an inconvenience or difficult to lock them, so the pros vs. cons just always weighs in favor of keeping them locked IMO. You can always get smart locks too, so there's not a risk of locking yourself out.

We go in and out too much to keep them locked. They are locked at night and that’s about it.

Front door is barely used, so locked. Garage is closed, so interior door is never locked. Two sets of back sliders with hurricane proof glass that weighs a ton, usually unlocked while home. The gators and pit-bull mix are deterrents. Oh, and I don't live amongst trash...

My toddler would love to run out the front door if I left it unlocked.

I refuse to live somewhere I have to lock my doors during the day. We generally lock at night but not always.
