Do you have a workout buddy?

Have things changed around the gym from the old days? Everyone has ear pods in doing their own thing. No spotting, edging on, motivators, etc. everyone just staring at a phone during breaks in sets.
Back in the day everyone had a workout buddy pushing each other to the brink.
You and your workout buddy walked into the gym like a WWF tag team. Everyone knew each other by a pairing. Heaven forbid you were seen in the gym getting a pump on without your workout buddy. Better be a damn good reason or drama would ensue.
Everyone would help the newbie in the gym find a workout buddy if he stuck around a bit.
Is the isolation just a big city gym thing or do small town gyms still operate off the true ways of the gym?

Well I don't like people, especially people I don't know so my workout buddy is in my earpods.
Most days its Wayne Static. RIP. He reminds me to Push It. Can't complain.

I go at the same time as my cousin and his son. Some days we get stuck shooting the shite and we don't get a lot done. We shame each other when we miss the gym. Good support system. If they stopped going, I'd still keep going. Mostly, everyone is in their own world. I dig the gym. We need it.

Definitely no edging going on over here.

Brother…are you just lonely?
You’re always banging on about how more people need to join you in the office…now you need someone to lift and run with?

That sounds like "Wifes of" needless, bullshite drama.
The only "buddies" I need in the gym are my Beats and my phone. I still see a decent amount workout teams, but they are most often a guy/girl or two girls.

I work out at home, so unless I want to torture one of the boys, no. I'm done by the time they wake up.

I had a workout buddy. But we weren't quite as attached as you described. We worked together for a while so our schedules aligned and we would hit the gym together fairly often. Then he moved to another state for a job opportunity. I don't lift nearly as heavy as I used to but occasionally if I'm feeling it I might throw some extra weight on and ask for a spot. And occasionally others will ask me for a spot. I only ask people who I recognize or ones who look like they know their way around a gym.

I don't and I do wish I had a workout buddy to keep my accountable on the days I really don't want to go.

What’s the update on the truck situation?

No, it's my personal zen time.

No.
Schedules usually cause an issue.
Plus, i just follow a specialized program that i had designed for what i want to and most guys i know just want to do generic body building lifts.

I always go to the gym with my wife.

There are a few guys that are at the gym at the same time as me regularly. We talk a little bit but then it's earbuds and work. A nod to let others know we need a spot. Some hollering during heavy sets. Talk a bit more on the stair steppers at the end.
