I have had this on the wall of my office since the 1990s:

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Calvin Coolidge

And, having reached his word quota, Calvin Coolidge would not speak for another 3 months.

No battle plan survives contact with the enemy - Helmuth von Moltke

I also like the famous Patton quote that BayouWrangler posted.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Anything is a dildo if you’re brave enough!

I don't think about this daily by any means but reminds me of my and my dad's relationship a lot growing up. I guess somewhat relevant since it's almost Father's Day
quote:

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years."--Mark Twain.

Me either, that's why my favorite quote is from a wrestler.
