He was given it for no other reason than that he was first non white President. Even if you think he was the greatest ever, you can't hide the fact that at that point he had accomplished absolutely nothing. Now if you think such things is deserving of such a award, he shouldn't have gotten it. It should have been given collectively to the American Voter who actually elected him.

On another note there is no such thing as a African American or Italian American or Mexican American etc, etc. You are either a American or you are not you cannot be both.

Yemen says hi, Lybia says hi, Syria says hi.

Obama wasn’t peaceful at all.

At this point he was only president for a year; I doubt that gives him much time, in addition to his other duties, to advocate for world peace in such a way to garner this recognition.

11 days. He was president 11 days when nominations closed. It was a complete joke.

Yea, it was clearly a political stunt.

Then again, the Nobel Peace Prize has been a political stunt for years.

The Nobel committee cites Obama's promotion of nuclear nonproliferation and a "new climate" in international relations, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world as the reasons for bestowing upon him the high honor in 2009.

He was awarded the prize for only talking about doing things, not for actually doing anything.

So yes, it was a massive political stunt fueled by the cult of personality surrounding Obama leading into his first year.

Do You Feel Like OP Doesn't Know There's A Poli Board? Or Is He Just Mentally Handicapped?

This. Obama winning the Noble Peace Prize would be like me being given a doctorate in astrophysics from Harvard because I said I like watching space documentaries.

I think the better question, since the OP's is obvious, is:

If you are a moderate democrat, or a hardcore leftist, do you find a way to mentally justify the atrocious decision to award the prize to Mr. Obama... or are you like me when a LSU gets the benefit of a pass interference call that was a terrible call, and I am standing in front of an opposing fan and I focus on my drink and make small talk with my wife and avoid eye-contact with that opposing fan.

Odd. I'm against most of Trumps policies and didn't vote for him, yet I've never been banned from the poliboard.

Maybe try not being a douche?

I think you're right, but it was also a really down year for NPP candidates. It's like Mark Ingram's Heisman win.

Definitely undeserved. Celebrity cult worship plus a middle finger to W.

He didn't meet the official standards, and even the biggest Obot knows it.

He created more division in this country than any type of possible healing. Not sure how that gets you a "Peace" prize.

Checks out.

It must be OK to intentionally drone strike and obliterate innocent civilians (women & children) when it's a progressive liberal calling the shots.

To everyone else BHO was not given the peace prize because he is black. You're clueless, kidding yourself, and giving a bad name to the right part of the anti-globalist base when you make ignorant remarks like that.

Well said. It feels like he moved the nation from "conversations about race are healthy" to "EVERYTHING is racial and WHITE FOLKS are mostly terrible".
