It depends on what you mean by “less fortunate”

If you mean a homeless junkie begging for change? Absolutely not.

If you mean a good person down on their luck for some unlucky circumstances (fire, death, etc) absolutely.

We do angel tree for Christmas from each one of our kids. We donate to St. Jude. We do no charity to adults directly. Whatever that makes me is fine by me.

Whenever I can, yes. Why not? It could easily be me or someone I know in that position. To think otherwise I think is to not recognize or even appreciate what you have and have been given in life. It’s a small thing, and I don’t announce it when I do, but yeah, why wouldn’t anyone if they can make a difference in someone else’s life? What am I doing on this planet, accumulating a big pile of dirt to be king of?

They are, people are awful. I used to do some volunteer work during Thanksgiving, and it just made me really hate people even more. For every grateful older person who was happy to get a box of food, there were three trashy as frick people who were pissed that the free box of food they were just handed did not have the flavor of boxed stuffing they prefer.

frick panhandlers. There is an old guy where I live whose full time job is sitting on a corner begging for money at red lights. I have never seen him without a cig in his mouth. frick that guy.

Where I live there are TONS of churches, so at Christmas time every church has the same program as churches everywhere do, where they sign up poor families and have the children make up wish lists and then church members buy gifts for as many kids as they want.

Well, obviously there is only so much money to go around, so eventually all the churches got together and compared lists and what do you know, the same damn families were going to ALL the churches in town and many of the families were being chosen by multiple churches and getting gifts which meant others weren't getting anything. Simply because those families had nothing better to do then figure out how to scam systems and sign up early for every freebie being offered by anyone.

Pathetic.
