After everyone had kids, we only give gifts to the nieces / nephews.

Nah. My brother and I decided a few years ago to stop. I buy for my parents, grandma, and my 90000 godchildren.

Yes. Nothing fancy tho. Usually something for his camp(s) or a food item they may like. A gift card to Lowe’s or Academy is always appreciated.

We have up until this year. It became either an alcohol or gift card (usually to Martin's or Calandros for alcohol) exchange.

I give the kids a card with a $100 bill and call it a day.

Not really. I’ll grab my brother a small gift if I see something I think he’d like. He does the same for me, but it’s not a written in stone thing. I don’t have anything for him this year.
He’s my only family member I see at Christmas, not counting his wife and kids. I get his kids something. I bought his wife something once and they acted weird about it so I stopped that. It was just a candle and bottle of wine.

We draw a name between all siblings and in laws so we only have to buy for 1 person.

Christmas is a childrens event. A small gesture gift is one thing, but nothing you have to shop for.

I exchange with, my mother in law, my brother, my mom and dad, and my grandparents (three are still alive) and one random family member we draw from a hat.
but its nothing big, we set a money limit for each gift. i spent and frick load on my 3 year old this year though

We've stopped with one half of the family, still do it with the other.
While it makes a lot of practical sense, I'd like to get to a place where we do small thoughtful gifts with minimal expectation. Stuff you buy on a trip or whatever. I like the concept, but in practice it becomes begging someone for ideas or picking a blanket off a list - it sucks.
