Good thing for you, all of the waiters have to dress up.

Only because no one dresses up on formal night.

Me either. Not sure if I'd enjoy it or not. I'm a little trashy so that part wouldn't bother me

Yes, but I don't like it. Some cruise lines have eliminated formal nights.

Don’t you want to look your best for the formal night photo?

Guess that explains why my ex-MIL liked them so much.

Not all, but most. I realize you’re giving the OT answer though.

We went on a Carnival Cruise (our first cruise)over 20 years ago with a 20 person family. Again t told us there will be one formal night. Being typical New Orleanians, we reached into our closets and packed our tuxedos and evening gowns. Formal night happens and we were the only ones dressed up. We laugh about how we expected the night to be like we are going to dinner on the Titanic

I went on a carnival cruise once. It was a joke. The dining hall was serving shitty canned food. The waiters had on cheap worn out suits. The whole thing was a charade.

The food is what it is but let’s not pretend like it’s fine dining and everyone should dress up.

Yes. Coat and tie. Wife in an evening gown. After dinner, you go to the on board photographer for some nice formal family photos.

Like what? Eating is the biggest attraction on most cruises.

Guess they want to not miss out on "Music trivia" at the Schooners Lounge, or the ice sculpting on the pool deck.

Unless it’s about 110 years ago and I am not dressed like this, I am not “cruising”

So no.

Yes, I do only because I’m married. Which is a pain in arse because it usually comes the night of a port day.
We usually skip the second formal night and just eat on the Lido Deck though.
