No, Key West is in the Straits of Florida which connects the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.

You need smarter friends. The Caribbean is south of Cuba. Key West is north of Cuba. The map should resolve the issue for him.

Help me settle an argument. A friend of mine believes that Key West is part of the Caribbean.
And, as the old people used to say: Show me your friends, I'll show you yourself, dummy.

Some people say that New Orleans is actually the Northernmost point of the Caribbean.

Key West has never been considered "Caribbean". Maybe your dumb arse friend meant to say "tropical"?

Key West is not Caribbean - but it can be confusing because the Bahamas are not Caribbean but they are a member of the Caribbean Community, so are Turks and Caicos

No. It is not part of the Caribbean. You do realize that Key West is in the Gulf of Mexico, right? Not the Caribbean.

I just popped in to dump on you and your stupid frickin' friend, even though I had no idea one way or the other and it seemed like a fair enough question.
Man you and your friend need fricking drool cups you're so stupid.

Yes, or it’s at least closer to islands in the Caribbean than mainland Florida
That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.

That's like asking if HIV is part of AIDS.
Whatever the answer, you probably arrived there because you're...... somewhat ghey.

It's not the Caribbean but it's a cool place to party

New Orleans is considered by many to be the "northernmost Caribbean city" because of culture. But you can make the case it's because of crime and demographics.
"New Orleans is considered the northernmost Caribbean City. New Orleans greatly resembles the Caribbean. The caribbean fest is held every June in Central City. The celebration features the similarities in food, music, and cultures between the Caribbean and New Orleans."
